Congrats @emmaputnam ! What major?
Anyone heard anything yet?
Nope
Yes, I got off the waitlist on May 5.
Congrats! @yessuh ! What major are you?
Is anyone still waiting on the waitlist? I am
I’m still on the waitlist ?
Same here, hopes aren’t high anymore.
I just want them to tell me. At this point, I just wanna know if I’ve gotten in or not. Even if what I hear is no.
Right? @lmuviewer It’s like ok you now know how many spots just give us an answer. It would be nice to have some certainty during this literal pandemic. What major are you going for?
@Bellp31 I’m going to a get a Master’s in Mathematics Education. How about you?
Ive lost all hope honestly, anyone have any updates? Haven’t accepted any of my other university offers and relying on this one to fall through
Does anyone know if you get an email when the waitlist updates or do we just have to keep checking the portal for conformation
@lmuviewer I’m trying for Film Production! Also I think we get an email, however I never got an email for the notification I was waitlisted I just checked myself so idk.
I’m giving up on waiting for LMU. Good luck to everyone!
Does anyone have any information at all? I really want this to come through but hopes really aren’t high anymore.
Hey everyone. I don’t expect anyone from this year to still be on but for any future waitlisted students who look at list (like I did). I was waitlisted for Film Production on March 9th but on July 29th I was accepted. I sent a total of 4 non pushy emails to LMU just checking not trying to force anything over the the time I was waitlisted. Keeping up good communication with the admissions officers is really helpful and eventually my admission counselor asked to call me and she told me the news. I don’t qualify for need based financial aid and they told me that if I accepted was when they would start working on a merit based aid package for me.
Hi! Congratulations on your acceptance! My D was waitlisted for Film Production on March 9 also, and got accepted August 6th! Who would have thought? Did you decide to attend? Did you get your financial aid package yet? I hope they’re fast because they only gave her a week to make a decision. Admissions told me FA would send a package this week, then she can make a decision about attending. This was her top choice school but she enrolled at Ithaca College for Film. We live in New York state and she can move in the dorms and do hybrid and online classes. The NY list of restricted states won’t be allowed to return on campus. That covers almost all the other states, so it will be nice being one of the few people on campus. Now LMU accepting her has really thrown a monkey wrench in the whole thing. She wants to move to LA now, but LMU is telling me she wouldn’t have any classes hybrid or in person. Do you know if this is true? What about film production 101? You can’t do that online. Can you? Maybe they won’t offer that course this semester. If it is all online, she would have to sit home for the semester, and if COVID doesn’t let up, they could cancel spring semester in-person classes too. I really wanted her to take film production class the first semester because she’s not 100% sure film school is what she wants to major in, and I figured production class would give you a good idea what it’s all about. Better she find out right away, before we spend more money and time on it. Can anyone tell me if LMU film production freshman HAVE to be 100% online or if they can choose to do a class or two in person or hybrid? If she could do any of it in person that would be great! She would have to find off-campus housing. Housing told me she wouldn’t be able to live there. And we only have a couple weeks left. So idk what to advise her to do. I’m also afraid the aid she gets won’t be enough. We don’t qualify for any need based aid, only merit based. Ithaca is very expensive too but not as high as LMU. I know LMU is a way better choice for film school and she loves it, but with the circumstances of the coronavirus, decisions aren’t as clear now.
If we could view the course listings in PROWL, then we could see what courses are offered, when and where. She can’t get into PROWL though, since she’s not yet a student. I’d have to pay the $500 deposit. I’ve talked to a few people at the college and they give me vague answers. An advisor for the department said she would meet with my D to discuss it. She wouldn’t tell me specifics about courses. I told her that if, and when she enrolls, she’ll meet with her then. Will doing it all online really be any good for film classes? Maybe this last minute acceptance is just a sign to forget it. It’s so stressful. Maybe it’s not meant to be.
hi @KAT616 , I’m guessing your D made her decision? It’s late! A couple of weeks ago my D (senior at LMU, Theater) said that the film school went 100% online for fall. What a tough decision you had, and yes, crazy late waitlist! If your D ended up choosing LMU, send me a PM, I can direct you to the parent Facebook group that has been hooking up some film students.
I got waitlisted as well for psychology and it was my top school. Have you heard back from them?
