Loyola MD vs Northeastern

Hello everyone.

After receiving all of my admissions decisions, I have sort of hit a wall. First off, I have never visited Loyola, but I do know that it is an absolutely beautiful and academically strong school. Northeastern is my #1 choice. I live just outside of Boston, and love the atmosphere.

So as for my problem...
My family is middle class. I have 3 siblings, all older, and two are currently in school. I don't want to financially burden my parents, but higher education is so expensive. I got in EA at NEU and Loyola, and have now received my FA packages. I got 18k grant+10k loans/work study+10k/year from a wealthy uncle for NEU. It's pretty good, and I was surprised. Major: Health Sciences

But I got my Loyola FA today...
33k grant(WOW)+15k loans/work study+10k from uncle.
Major: Psychology

I could literally almost pay nothing for Loyola after my 4 years. I'm not sure what to do. I don't expect anyone to make the decision for me, I just want some opinions. I love Northeastern and their Co-op program, but I think the education could be just as good at Loyola.

What do you guys think?

Congrats on your package from Loyola, we were only offered loans. IMHO, visit Loyola, sign up for an accepted students day, meet with faculty in your intended major. If you think it feels right and you could succeed there, take the money  Especially if your thinking psychology, because I would think you’ll need more than a bachelor’s degree to get somewhere in that field.

You really should visit both schools… they are VERY different but both great schools. My D applied and was accepted to both EA along with several other schools. You also need to decide how big of a factor the money is going to be in your decision. Clearly, Loyola will cost you much less out of pocket. For us, the bottom line is much closer so that does not factor into our decision at all.

Good luck with your decision! I don’t think you can make a bad choice between the 2… but definitely visit before you decide!
