<p>Son accepted with a nice Merit aid pkg. to Loyola. Accpeted to Nova with NOmoney. I am leaning towards Loyola. I just don't think Nova is worth the $$$$.</p>

<p>Some people love Nova, but others say it’s only so-so. The students look the same which leads me to question whether or not there are many independent thinkers there.
It is a very popular school in the NE. I work with people and have family members who graduated from Nova and they all LOVED it! Absolutely, nothing bad to say. </p>
<p>There are supposed to be pockets of academic excellence there. I think it’s a program called HAT. </p>
<p>If your son is set on Nova, why not try the FA office and see if they have wiggle room. After all, the admissions counselors might have quotas to meet and this year, it is harder to meet them .</p>
<p>Which Loyola? As best you can, put reputation secondary to substance.</p>
<p>Define “value” in your household. I promise you will be viewing this decision differently a year or 2 into the reality of it all. And only you can forecast what will really be most valuable and thus important and worth the price, whatever it may be. Good luck.</p>

<p>Both have solid reputations, and V’s much higher visibility (that’ll only be enhanced post-NCAA run …meaning MORE apps, less need to meet need) is reflected in your financial situation. I’d not hold out any chance they will feel need to help your situation. Too many in line wanting to buy it.</p>
<p>I’m with you. There is little genuine, hard evidence to indicate that the cost differential for you is merited. If $$'s no object go for it. If value is a real concern, you have your answer, imo.</p>
<p>And you can be guaranteed …a year from now, it won’t make a hill of beans difference IF your son is happy. He’ll love either equally well, and his affection will have zilcho to do with reputation. Now, if he picks V and you’re writing checks … YOU won’t be loving V so much. ;)</p>
<p>Nova is a very buttoned down envirnonment with not much town life around the campus. That suits some people very well. Others might find it a bit narrow.</p>
