Hi I am a high school senior and I have to apply to schools soon. My parents want me to stay in MD so I decided to apply to only those 3 schools. I have a 3.43 UW GPA and a 4.03 W GPA. I also have a SAT score of a 1900. I am in a few clubs and the president and founder of the Salvation Army Club at my school. I also did track a couple seasons throughout the years. I probably won't be able to get into UMD but will I be able to get into the other schools? Should I apply to other easier schools to get into? I feel like with my stats, I feel like I will most likely get into UMBC and Loyola. If I do get into all 3 schools, should I attend UMD? Which school do you think is the best, 2nd best, and third best? Thank you!

I live in Maryland too, yay~!

I would also like to go to UMBC too and its President spoke at the STEM seminar that I went to which was great. UMD is getting tougher every year, and it’s becoming selective. Some people say that UMD is dirty and it’s very large. Loyola is also a really chill and nice school to go to as well. Personally, here’s how I would rank those schools (One being the best):

1) UMBC
2) Loyola
3) UMD

This is just my opinion.

Overally, your GPA, and SAT scores are really good and competitive for these schools, as well as your EC’s. Good Luck.

UMD>Loyola>UMBC, but you should look at GWU. With your stats you have a good chance of admission.

Awesome. Thanks guys. So just those 4 schools, nice. According to USNews, GWU is rank 50 while UMD is rank 55. In your opinion, do you think GWU is better?

Oh wow, I just checked the acceptance rate for that school and it is 33%. I don’t think I’m qualified to get into that school, but I guess I’ll try. I now assume that GWU is better than UMD. Ok thanks everyone

Yes it is but GW also inflated its acceptances by wait listing over qualified applicants who use it as a safety. However, it goes very hard on interest so do a campus visit and an interview. I think you are very qualified for there. Try it.

Oh wow thats very interesting. Okay I guess I’ll add GWU to my list. Do you know if they give a lot of financial aid? Also what do you think about Case Western Reserve University? It’s a good school with a higher acceptance rate (51%).

If you like it, it’s a great choice to apply to. Also, yes GWU is known to be very generous with aid, not ivy league generous, but definitely much more generous then most others of its caliber.
