My daughter is not sure whether to attend Loyola or St. Joseph's U in Philly. She likes school-work, but she also likes to have time for fun. Is Loyola so challenging that it leaves little time for fun? St. Joes seems to be a good fit, we just don't know too much about Loyola. She intends to study business.

Personally, if given the choice, I would attend Loyola. It has a better reputation, better academics, and IMO a better overall atmosphere. It is definitely not too difficult if you manage your time well, that is key. St. Joe’s is a good school as well, and it should definitely be considered if you were given better financial aid there.

My son is in the same situation, trying to decide after being accepted from the wait list from Loyola, of attending St.Joe’s( Philly) or Loyola- Maryland ?? Any views out there as too which school offers a better business program? I keep hearing that St.Joe’s has a better reputation out there for hiring after graduation? Any insight would be appreciated, only have 3 days to make a decision!!

St. Joe’s has an acceptance rate of 86%!

Thank you all for your responses. My daughter had a hard time with this decision. She ended up choosing St. Joes. Although Loyola is ranked higher academically, she feels St. Joes is a better fit for her. Kids need to choose schools where they feel they will be happy and successful.

NEMOM48 - We like both schools also and it sounds like we’re in the same boat as yourself and at least one other poster on this thread - comparing them closely. I assume your D has completed her 1st semester at SJU, how does she now feel about her decision?

mpfo - Where did your son ultimately decide to attend?

We are also in this same challenge, my D is concerned about the academic rigor of Loyola, is it real? Also, is there a difference in the type of student that attends one or the other, Loyola seemed to lean toward preppy-affluent students, just my observation, correct me if this is not accurate. Please comment on any insight into a comparison of Business programs, academic rigor, and student fit between Loyola -St. Joe’s - Lasalle?
