Loyola

I know absolutely nothing about loyola other than they have nice dorms. Any information from people who have applied, people who are going there now, people planning to apply, alums... anyone? What other schools are comprable

I am Loyola Class of 74 and I absolutely loved it there and it has come a long way and is a betterschool now than it was 35 years ago. My daughter has gone on two Saturday presentations and did an interview. Loyola is her first choice and her father is very proud LOL. Did you apply because the dealine has passed.

BRavens, a friend's son is considering Loyola and is attending the Honors Open House today.

Do you have any information about the Honors program and, specifically, how they decide who is accepted? It seems like a very special program. Is your daughter applying?

Although she has been deferred I think she will get in later. Therefore, she won't qualify probably for the Honors program. She has applied for the Honors Program at her safety school where she has already been accepted. keep me posted on how your son does.

BRavens, sorry to hear about your daughters deferral, but congrats on the acceptance into Honors Program at her safety school. Would you share what school that is for a friend's son next year's applicant pool?

Also, the info re: Loyola was for another friend's son as well.
Do you have any personal "inside' information regarding the placement of the Business grads from Loyola?

Also, does anyone know if Loyola awards most of their Merit Money to Honor's Program applicants whether they are the 50 who accepted or not?

There is some confusion here. My daughter was accepted at her safety school(Towson University) but has not heard from the Honors program. I appears they make their decision later on. I don't know when.

Business and Accounting majors at Loyola have always done well in getting jobs especially on the East Coast. My roommate at Loyola was an Accounting major at Loyola and now is the CEO at CIGNA Insurance which is an international Insurance company. He is also on the Loyola Board.

My daughter is still waiting to hear from Loyola on her deferral. We have been told to expect an answer around 4/01/2006. However, her safety school (Towson University) is putting on a full court press to get her to go there. She has been accepted in their Honors College, invited to live in the Honors Dorms, and has received two nice scholarships. As a father and Loyola alumni, I am torn. My oldest two went and go to Towson and love it and have told her she should go there. Loyola has put her off til the last minute and probably won't offer her any significant money if any at all. Towson definitely wants her to go there but Loyola is stalling her. They wanted to see her Senior grades and they are straight As and her class rank even got better (5th in a class of 387). What else do they need? This is frustrating.

BRavens-- Did Loyola already say she is not admitted to the Honors? We have heard nothing from Loyola other than a letter a while ago saying they really like my daughters profile, and she would be a good candidate for their school. Towson also offered us 2 hefty scholarships plus honors college today which is an add. 2,000 per year. My d is very interested in college park and U of Richmond, but neither have said anything about money yet. What to do? Is the honors at towson that different form regular classes? Isn't it only one class per semester? The waiting is terrible.............

My daughter was accepted at Loyola yesterday. We are supposed to hear about Financial Aid soon. She chose Loyola over Towson even if she has to borrow money. Going to Loyola means that much to her. Loyola was her first choice for over a year now and she never wavered on her choice.
