A lot of people are really against taking Pires because, although she is a good lecturer, it's really hard to do well in her class. (Apparently she told her TAs to lower lab grades because they were too high?)

Tamanoi doesn't really seem that much better according to BruinWalk... ?

pires:
-shes a snake
-bad tests
-first time teaching ls3 (i believe)
-good lecturer? (dont really care)
-final is on a different day than 14d

tamanoi:
-good tests
-bad lecturer…but still only tests on slide material
-final on the same day as 14d
-nice times

i was all for tamanoi until i looked at the final time. if i took pires, her final would be my first, which is ideal for ls classes since i can have one long cram session beforehand and not worry about other tests…tamanoi’s would be weird. probably gonna take pires =/.

Pires has taught LS3 before. I had her for the first half of LS3 a number of summer’s ago. She was a pretty good lecturer. Her exam wasn’t terrible, IMO.

Although she claims that there’s no curve in the class, in the end there was - at least for my class.

pires is an amazing lecturer and an awesome person in general. do well in her class and you’re basically guaranteed a good letter of rec. you just gotta go to office hours and get to know her. i had for ls 1 and 2, she let me borrow a textbook for ls3 for free because she said the one my professor is using is horrible. good person

I have troubles deciding to take Tamanoi or Pires. Tamanoi has one midterm and a final. Pires has 2 midterms and a final. But people seems to take Tamanoi anyway.

yes i did. i took 14d, ls3, and 6c together. 14d is a lot more studying and memorization than 14C, but it is very doable with ls3. ls3 was the easiest of the 4 in my opinion, especially with tamanoi.
