LSA and Engineering

Can one apply simultaneously to the College of Engineering and to the college of Literature, Science, and the Arts as a prospective transfer student?

Probably not, atleast not if you use the same application form as entering freshmen. I wanted to do that but I couldn’t.

If you are undecided and have the credentials (over 700 on the Math section of the SAT, over 3.8 Michigan GPA and As in AP Math and AP Physics in high school), I would apply to the College of Engineering. Once on the College of Engineering, transfering into LSA is automatic and double majoring in a subject in LSA along with Engineering is also not problematic from an administration point of view. On the other hand, if you apply to LSA, transfering to Engineering is not automatic (although it is not difficult either) and LSA students cannot simply elect a second major at the college of Engineering.

Well i applied to LSA out of high school and out of my first year at UM-Dearborn and I ended up getting rejected both times. I have a 3.8 UM-Dearborn GPA, 760 on my Math II subject test, 5’s in both AP Stats and AP BC Calc, 4 in AP Chem, A in Calc III, and A- in both General Physics classes (Mechanics + Electricity). At the end of this summer term, i will have amassed 72 credits including AP and college credit. I know fellow students of mine who had 3.2-3.4 GPA’s at Dearborn, and they got into the College of Engineering. Yet i didn’t get into LSA.

Is there anyway i can update my application to college of engineering for the fall term at this late in the game? I know it’s a long shot but i need to exhaust all my options.
