^ State funding is minimal, but the guarantee to meet full need of in state students is a huge benefit.
@HRSMom I can only speak of Exeter, but UM last year met the full demonstrated need of all OOS students. They made them take subsidized loans, but for some low income students, they were extremely generous.
I think it is geat that they are getting closer to meeting need, IS or OOS. We are fortunate to have 0 need. But it looks like no merit $ for S either. I think S is just happy to be admitted, so be it.
UM’s representative said that the Regents were devoting most aid money to meeting the full need of those with “demonstrated financial aid”. She said the Regents felt it poor policy to gap some needy student while granting money to those without demonstrated need. They’ve also created the Provost’s Awards to address the need of OOS students with high financial aid.
