LSA transfer chances

waitlisted --> rejected fall 2008 freshman admission
rejected for fall 2009 transfer
applying for winter '10 transfer to LSA

will have completed 48 credits from michigan community college with 3.7 cumulative GPA at time of review

i'll be attending michigan state university in the fall to ultimately attempt to transfer 60 credits total to michigan.

31 ACT, decent extracurricular involvement, continued interest in michigan (appealed fall 2009 decision, got a nice response but no change in decision...)

i have discussed my rejection with an admissions counselor and my main flaw was my high school recalculated GPA, yet as i'm approaching 60 credits it seems that my hs gpa would hold less significance?

opinions? i think my college GPA is less than sufficient but any insight would be greatly appreciated

I’d think that after showing repeated interest you would get in, especially with a 3.7…but im not sure what they want.

and they said that they look at your high school grades? i thought they only look at college?

thanks for your opinion

high school transcripts are required for all transfer students but i think those grades only hold a lot of significance for students who have only completed a semester or two of course work

Only issue is that transfer is so much harder than freshman applications. Many schools accept about 10% of the their transfer students. As for you, I would say it probably is your high school grades but also what college you went to for your first few years. Community colleges are not very liked by UMich and that might have hurt

okay, thanks for your opinion.

can u transfer during your 1st year at another university? or do i have to wait 1 year?

what is the avg gpa for transfers?
