The common data set shows that LSU does consider demonstrated interest, but not before other stats. The admission process is now holistic though, so I think they look at candidates as a whole. If your stats are on the line or near it, and you’re in-state, it may be worth touring. According to the common data set, in 2018, the average ACT/SAT scores of entering freshman were:
SAT Evidence-Based Reading
and Writing 540 (25%) 640 (75%)
SAT Math 530 (25%) 650 (75%)
ACT Composite 23 (25%) 29 (75%)
ACT Math 22 (25%) 27 (75%)
ACT English 23 (25%) 31(75%)
I’m not sure, but I’d assume these scores may have gone up a bit in 2019, since LSU started offering more generous merit scholarships. Good luck to those still waiting.
@Mkaylaj Yes, LSU is my first choice. The reason why I applied so late was because I wanted to raise my ACT and turn in my first semester 12th grade grades before I send my application
If the application is holistic, then I think I have a great shot of getting in. I’ve been a TA in freshman year, joined my school’s robotics team in 10th-11th and volunteered at many events. Thank you for the extra boost in confidence. Been stressing out about it lately.
@Khng20 Trust me I know how you feel. It keeps me up at night. The extracurriculars are a big plus for your application. I have no doubt you’ll get in. Praying the same happens for me! But if it helps any, I believe most or all applicants find out the decision this month by what admissions said yesterday
@Mkaylaj Thank you. I just hope that we can find out the results soon. I hope you get in too!
@Lacole03 I called the admission office yesterday and they said they don’t have automatic admissions anymore so I was wrong. Just searched it up and it’s holistic now.
@Mkaylaj Yeah, I’m really nervous too. My other friend got an email from LSU that they are still making up their decision on his entrance. I haven’t receive a single email yet. Just a bit nervous right now
A holistic process review is a review that considers the whole applicant instead of just grades and test scores. Grades and test scores are still important, but extracurriculars and community service are greatly considered too.
For those that attended Destination LSU, was it worth going? Did you feel you got a lot out of it? We’re OOS and are still on the fence about attending it. My daughter is going to LSU for certain.
My daughter falls just short of an automatic admission with her ACT. She received an email today inviting her to their instant decision day. Just wanting to see if anyone else has had luck going to this and if they actually do give you a yes or no while you are there. Hoping for some positive news
What is the automatic admission numbers? I am currently applied with a 1040 SAT
Rank 122/250
GPA 3.02
Played a sport for three years and OOS all the way in Philadelphia.
I really like my chances of getting accepted I only applied to Loyola New Orleans who had a 66 % acceptance rate and LSU. I heard back from Loyola within 2 weeks and I’m starting to get very antsy. I applied to LSU on January 22. I also wrote an essay basically saying that if I was accepted this is my dream school and I’m 100 percent going. We will see what happens.
@jakepaluba12 Congrats on Loyola!!! Crossing my fingers that you get into LSU! I really wish their decision time wasn’t so long but it’s simply a part of their holistic review.
Thank you I appreciate that! Yeah I understand that but to be completely honest it’s a bit of a stressful situation. For Loyno I need to have a 500$ deposit in by March 1st if I’m going. Still have my sights set on LSU since it’s my dream school we will see though!
@Freshmom24 - my daughter received an email today saying that the admission dept will be doing a day where you get invited to go speak to them. I am guessing it will be like an interview. She has a 20 on the ACT and a 3.5 gpa with lots of extracurricular but he act is bringing her down. They are calling it an instant decision day, so I guess she will find out then if she gets in. Tried to research but can’t find much info about it.
