I really hope they start releasing admission decisions at some point tomorrow. Good luck. Anyone have any insight on timing of decisions if so let us know!
Hopefully today we hear if we got in! fingers crossed!
LSU has not been transparent about the times, and when we should hear back.
@Schubby1 We were at destination LSU today and the speaker said that in 2 weeks all the decisions and admission letters will have been mailed out, there were 26,000 applicants for the Fall semester, and they went through every application, so just hold on and hopefully this coming week you will receive your admission letter in the mail.
@tigah2024 what did you think of the day today? We are going to take an admitted tour instead of accepted student day…
@tigah2024 thank you for sharing that information!! I’m super nervous now. I really want to know but I’m also really scared. Fingers crossed that we are one of the 26,000 to get in! Also did you enjoy Destination LSU?
To be completely forthcoming… I Iive in a parish near Baton Rouge, and I’d say BR is not the farm land you are used to, when it comes to safety. But, neither are loads of urban areas that have some of the best colleges in the country. It’s all about being proactive and using common sense. That said, my daughter has been accepted into some great schools, but LSU is still a main contender. It’s definitely not unsafe to the point that I wouldn’t send her there, and I’m pretty paranoid. ? I just really hope she gets some more supplemental scholarships to seal the deal.
@Schubby1 Like you’ve been told, it’s hot here in Louisiana. During the winter months, it’s hit or miss. One day you might be wearing shorts and two days later, a coat. You’d be very wise to pack a good umbrella and rain boots. Good luck! I hope you get in.
I expressed that LSU was my top choice. Maybe increase my chances of am getting admitted if they know that I will for sure attend.
@somemomma
Thank you for the comments. My D doesn’t want farmland or CT at all. I agree, you need to be smart anywhere you go and stuff can happen in any place.
We are waiting for $$ too, want to see how it all shakes out…but LSU is def a finalist for her!
Good luck!
Might be a bad idea. Do not know.
@Schubby1 It’s NEVER a bad idea to show demonstrated interest and let a college know how much you would value going there.
@basilwat I think destination lsu was sort of like “kickoff lsu” with a few twists, my D is also invited to admitted student day, I asked what the difference was and was told that destinations LSU was more academic driven and admitted student day is more student life driven so kind of the same information with a little different twist, it’s all good information and I think if we didn’t live so close we wouldn’t go to all of the different events but because we live 15 minutes away it’s really not that big of a deal. All in all there were a lot of people and a lot of information.
@Mkaylaj Yeah it was fun we got a lot of information that we didn’t know, it’s A lot of walking because it’s a walking campus but the weather was good, wasn’t hot and it wasn’t cold. I hope you get your admission letter soon, should be any day now
I went w my wife and daughter to destination LSU as well. We are OOS (NY) so this will be our last visit until she decides. (She got waitlisted to South Carolina and is waiting to hear beck from Syracuse).
Destination LSU was good. It’s a lovely campus. The campus is huge - probably larger than UConn. For sure more urban than UConn… but it’s not like NYU. It has an ice cream shop (like UConn) run by agricultural and veterinary students). I’ll be honest UConns Ice cream selection is better and the store is bigger at UConn as well but the location of LSUs is more central.
We happened to notice that the LSU woman gymnastics team (which is perennially top rated) had a meet against Arkansas. We decided to go. 12,000 people went to see it. Amazing talent.
In all a lovely school. I hit hard to get to (connecting flights or drive an hour from New Orleans). Daughter has a lot to mull over.
You will be hard pressed to find a school with more school spirit than this place. Geaux Tigers!
@fclspat
Good feedback! Are you from CT? You reference UCONN so thinking you are? We are from CT! UCONN is out in farmland practically so I assumed LSU would be set in abit differently.
My D‘S final two are LSU or University of South Carolina. They are really so close in all they have to offer. Her end goal is athletic training and we really think LSU would be the best bet for big sports overall. But we have heard lovely things about USC. Have you visited yet?
Travel to/from LSU could be a challenge for sure.
We need to go to both. Waiting for $$ from both as well…
@fclspat
I apologize, just saw you stated you were OOS in NY…
@Lacole03
Yeah we are from NY but have visited UConn. Nice school but we felt the major she was interested in (sports management) was weak there. So she didn’t apply. It really is in the middle of no where.
My daughters top two are South Carolina and Syracuse. She got waitlisted at SC and hasn’t heard back from Syracuse (it’s statistically harder to get into than SC) so we are moving to plan B schools. LSU and Seton Hall are her plan B schools.
We have visited South Carolina once. It too is a lovely campus. It’s slightly more urban than LSU, but nonetheless super pretty. Carolina is kind of in the middle of the state’s capitol City. While there are certain times (in the core part of campus) where you know all the buildings around you are part of the university but there are other times (when you start to head towards the out skirts of campus) where it seems some building aren’t part of the school. So it’s hard to determine where the college ends and the city begins.
LSU is a bit more isolated from Baton Rouge proper. So you know when you are on the campus vs off.
The football stadium in Carolina is basically not walkable from Carolinas campus but is smack dab on LSUs.
I find both lovely and can see the allure of both. If I were you, try to figure out which school has the better academic program and go with it.
@fclspat
Lots in common!!! Our D looked at Seton Hall as well. Gots tons of $$ and really great AT program (5 years instead of 6), but we felt that is where the positives ended. The area isn’t great at all, way to urban for her and you feel boxed in as it is all gated. And only basketball as big sports.
We live in CT and she didn’t even apply to UCONN. Wants all new experiences, new people, setting…etc.
I like that LSU’s facilities are all walkable for her to get clinical hours in. Overall programs are about the same otherwise.
Good luck! Loop back and let us know what her decision is…maybe they will both end up at the same school!
@Lacole03
Too funny. My daughter feels the same way about Seton Hall. I think the business credentials (as opposed to academic credentials) of the staff in the sport management program at Seton Hall are impressive and it’s location near so many professional sport teams and league HQs is compelling, but the campus and school spirit is meh.
Is AT in the kinesiology area at LSU?
Tough choices. Will let u know where she ends up. Have you visited all the schools? If not, let me know if you have questions.
