@Schubby1 Since the admission process is holistic, you aren’t just a number. They are going to take into account obstacles that you may have faced and how you overcame them. Because of that it gives anyone a really good chance. Don’t be discouraged! The best thing to do is speak it into existence!
Out of state in Michigan
You will be accepted likely @Schubby1 you had a lot of extracurricular I see. Very high chance…
Aside from the stress of college decisions, is everyone having an enjoyable senior year?
So my D’s final two are LSU and Univ of South Carolina.
Both are so similar in what they offer, size, etc. - we are OOS and haven’t heard about $ from either yet.
Anyone have any feedback on something that sets LSU over USC or vice versa?
Majoring in Athletic Training
When should we hear back in decisions?
LSU has a national ranking about 20 spots highers then South Carolina. LSU I believe would be a better school for your Daughters major.
@Schubby1
Thanks for the feedback!
I’m always checking this thread daily to see if you guys were accepted. Rooting for all of you to get in!
She could be the trainer for the reigning college championship football team. I’m definitely biased because we live near campus and everyone here is gung ho LSU, but I’d say being an athletic trainer at LSU will be pretty impressive on a resume. My daughter’s friend is a trainer at LSU and she LOVES it!
@somemomma
That’s great to hear! I agree! LSU def checks off MANY boxes for her!
We are OOS so hoping they send a little financial love our way! ?
We have not seen the campus yet, going next month to visit, we live in CT. We hear its beautiful…
@Lacole03 LSU has a beautiful campus and I can assure you that in a short time your daughter will feel at home! I’ve visited LSU every year since I can remember (since my grandmother lives only 45 minutes away) and the community is always a breath of fresh air. The faculty really cares and it shows through LSU’s success rate. I’m really biased, but I know she will really love it there!
@Mkaylaj
These comments make me feel really great about it all!
Is the area safe? Only reason I ask is UCONN which is our state school is literally in farmland…nothing going on there…I have no comparison…
There is crazy stuff on every campus, but just curious about the surrounding area.

“LSU is pretty safe once you know the area. Just like almost any campus near a city there are places to never go alone, places to never go at night and places to never go ever. If you use a modicum of good sense it is unlikely you will have any issues. And like most large campuses there are escort services and the like in situations where you are not certain,. If you need a ride on campus, Campus Transit will give you a free ride from door-to-door, anywhere on campus from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, seven days a week. You can also call Campus Transit to get a ride from a parking lot to a building, so they don’t have to walk alone from a parking lot. After midnight, you can call LSU Police, who will send an officer to escort you to your on-campus destination.”
I can assure you that this is true. I attended KickOff LSU and they indeed have police that patrol the campus. As well as key cards to get into dorms. My cousin who is a student at LSU regularly uses Campus Transit (shuttles) and occasionally gets rides back to her dorm from LSU Police via the LSU app on late nights. Through the LSU app your daughter will also be able to access shuttle routes and watch the shuttle’s movement in real time. I’d say LSU has it’s fair sure of crime every now and then, but as a large college such thing is anticipated. But they really do have great ways to ensure students’ safety.
Is there a good chance we are hearing about our decision on Friday?
What is the weather like in Baton Rouge?
@Schubby1 The weather is similar to most other Southeast states. Hot and humid for most of the year. Most winters it does not get colder than 30 degrees. There is about a week of Spring and a week of Fall each year. I have lived in Houston my whole life so I am quite used to the weather. I find it enjoyable.
When are we hearing back?
@Schubby1 Baton Rouge is very very humid. So definitely intend on packing shorts. As for when we will find out a decision, I can’t really tell you for sure. A short while ago we were told that 90% of applicants will find out before March. After making a call to admissions, my friend was told that it would be a few weeks longer (90% of applicants will find out in March) though there might be a chance they will release decisions starting tomorrow. At least I hope so
We are planning to the visit the school in April…We want to take a Admitted Student Tour, not planning on admitted Student Day yet…
