@mkaylaj Thanks!! She is looking at Cypress as she is an education major!
My D is hs c/o 2021 so I know we are early
LSU is moving to the top of her list b/c of the PreVet 3+3 and possibility for STAMPS or the President full ride Award.
Can anyone tell us when they start accepting Applications?
@BhRobTx I believe LSU starts accepting applications August 1st. While attending KickOff LSU, there was a workshop where you could fill out and submit your application while on campus. And good luck! But it seems you guys are already ahead so I’m sure she will get in and receive scholarships with ease!
I forgot to say that I’m planning to live in Spruce, which is literally across the street from Cypress
@Khng20 So cool! We’re all going to be in the same area!
How/when do you start picking housing?
We have not made our admission deposit yet, but will be doing it in the next couple of weeks.
Can you pick your housing? Is it determined by major? What are the steps for this?
Thanks @Mkaylaj and Good Luck to C/O '24. The virus may have ruined the spring, but great things are coming in the fall.
@Lacole03 I submitted my deposit yesterday morning. I was told it takes 1-3 days to confirm. After that you are able to access your myLSU Account and given your LSUID number. Once you receive that, you’ll be able to pick your housing preference. Also, the 1-3 days are only business days, so I will have to wait until Monday to put in for my housing plan.
@Mkaylaj
Okay ~ so I guess I should do this sooner rather then later.
I don’t want to have a problem getting housing…or preferred housing.
Also, admissions deposit is $200, how much is the housing dep?
@Lacole03 The housing deposit is $75
My dream school is lsu and I applied in November then I got something asking to write 3 short responses for additional consideration. I talked to my admission counselor multiple times and he is so nice but hasn’t told me anything My Gpa is a 2.9 and I was going to retake my sat and act but since the corona virus I wasn’t able too
@michaeladunlap Hi! I was in a similar situation in terms of the time and the additional questions. I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I wrote a letter of continued interest to my admission counselor and I feel that it helped me in some way. I made sure that it highlighted that I would definitely be attending LSU if accepted. I went in detail about why, such as what about their Pre-physician assistant program interest me and that I was impressed by the opportunities they provide for minorities going into that field. I also made sure to bring up recent achievements and improvements I’ve made since submitting my application, such as my 4.3 GPA for the first semester of senior year, shadowing a obstetrician-gynecologist, and clubs I’m participating in. Make sure you really sell yourself and show that you have done your research on the school! Good luck!! I’m rooting for you!
@mkaylaj were you assigned an admissions counselor? I never was… I am still hopeful of acceptance since I was told I’m in the same league but still getting very very nervous.
@jakepaluba12 I received an email telling me who my admission counselor was when asked to answer the 3 additional questions. I would call admissions and ask who your admissions counselor is and they should provide you with their email address.
Question…I know LSU has cancelled all tours for the time being…
Does anyone know if you can still self-walk the campus just to get an idea on how it looks? Get a feel for it…
@Lacole03 LSU is doing something called a Virtual Admitted Students Day. I got an email about it yesterday and they happen around 7:00 CST. They’re doing one all this week.
@Khng20
Yes, I saw that. It’s seems to be mostly a panel type discussion, which I’m sure is super helpful.
We have watched a lot of videos touring the campus, dorms, etc…but really wanted to see it in person just to get a visual/idea of what’s its really like prior to depositing…
Wasn’t sure if we could at least walk around the campus, although know all buildings will be closed.
Yeah, I’m in the session right now, and I realized it was more of a discussion rather than a tour. I looked at a ton of videos of the campus and dorms, but I also looked at google maps so it gave me an idea of what’s around LSU and how far is everything from my dorm. I didn’t get enough info from the virtual dorm tour so I looked on my dorm’s instagram and it had a little tour so that helped a lot.
Sounds good.
We may just have to deposit and see it after the fact. We are in CT so just don’t want to travel and not be able to get out of the car… COVID has really interrupted everything.
Even just walking the campus would have been good. We are fine with not going in any buildings. Some campuses are “open” and can be walked as opposed to a gated/locked/secure campus.
