LSU Admissions C/O 2024

So true @2020Mommy! My daughter has a 990 SAT and a 3.2 gpa. She’s gets migraines and struggles with tests. We had pretty much written off anything but community college. And low and behold, to our joy she got into her first two picks, ECU and Alabama. My son, her twin, got into ECU, Alabama, LSU, UNC Charlotte, but got deferred at UNC Wilmington! We are waiting to hear from NCState and UNC Chapel Hill, his reach schools. His early success encouraged him to apply to more. I’d say we’ve had much more success than expected

For those of you still waiting…I spoke with admissions this morning. I was told our son’s admission is in review and that 90% of applicants will hear back by March. ?

@kksmith77479 I was told the same thing. I’m so nervous ?

Hey, guys I just wanted to chime in to give you guys some hope! I have been accepted, I applied in September and heard back December 19th. I applied Pre-Law/3+3 Degree. I went through an interview process, so if anyone is applying for a pre-professional degree, I will say that it did take longer to hear back from them. I hope that maybe this helped and eased the nerves, I will be listing my stats down below in case anyone is wanting to know.

Stats:
SAT super score: 1130 (1120 regular)
Rank: 129 out of 862 (15th %)
GPA: 3.67 on a 4.0 and a 4.76 on a 6.0
ECS: I was involved a lot in high school with the drill team, PR for NEHS, NHS, etc.
I as well am an out of state student!

@thebaddest1 thank you for sharing and congrats!

@Mkaylaj My son received his acceptance around 5 this evening! Yours most certainly will be coming! Hang in there!

@kksmith77479 Congratulations!! Was it mailed or emailed? I’m trying to stay hopeful!

@Mkaylaj When my son was accepted he received an email telling him to check his portal.

@Mkaylaj The status in your portal will change. Above the “application checklist” it will say “Status Update…View Update.” Once you hit that link it takes you to the acceptance letter. I’m assuming the mailed envelope will follow.

We are still waiting on the package…My son was accepted Dec 18th.

Us too. Accepted 12/18 and no package.
I called LSU yesterday and they said they send the packages out in waves.

Hopefully soon.

Does anyone know when financial aid information will come with LSU? If it’ll be a separate email or letter in the mail?

@MK2002 After speaking with admissions about the acceptance packages, I was transferred to financial aid. I was told initial awards would be sent with the admissions packet and then if you completed FAFSA you could get additional at a later time.

Okay thank you I haven’t gotten my admissions package in the mail either.

Does anyone know how generous LSU financial aid is with out of state students?

@Mk2002 LSU is generally very generous with their financial aid for OOS students. I received 19k per year from an academic scholar nonresident award. This scholarship and others such as Texas Tigers and Legacy scholarships will make tuition to LSU much cheaper than in-state schools.

I applied in October as well! I had an average GPA with a internship, job, 27 ACT, and In-State residency but I still haven’t heard anything. LSU is my top choice so fingers crossed I hear soon

@acate2020 my stats aren’t very strong 2.9uw 3.3w and a 1230 SAT but I am a minority was the aid they gave you based on financial need and they labeled it as academic aid or was it actual merit aid?

@mk2002 the scholarship I received was based on my academic performance. I received this scholarship via mail about 4 weeks after my admission and about 2 weeks after my admission letter in the mail. I do not expect much or any aid based on my financial need. However; LSU has not provided me with my complete financial aid package yet. I emailed the financial aid department today and asked when I could expect my complete package. I am still waiting on some other scholarships I should be receiving such as Texas Tiger and my Legacy scholarship. I’ll let you know their response to my email.

I applied 11/20, was offered admission 11/27, and still haven’t received scholarship information. 4.7 GPA(w)/4.0GPA(uw). 1430 SAT. Great ECs. Currently on merit-based study-abroad program in Taiwan for AY. I had to email LSU to be admitted to the Ogden Honors College, and I was not offered to compete for the Stamps scholarship even though I qualify. Emailed the dean of Ogden last week to inquire as to why I my name was not included. crickets

The only LSU email I receive now are the weekly spam asking me to either attend an LSU event or commit to enroll. I mean, why should I commit to LSU if they have yet to offer me a scholarship package?

I’m honestly trying to be patient and understanding, but as more time passes, I’m becoming more and more disappointed in how my application is being handled. I empathize with those of you who continue to wait for answers from LSU, answers that do not seem very timely of forthcoming.
