LSU class of 2025

Definitely money talks!

I was reading the 2024 LSU topic and was surprised to see so many OOS eagerly wanted to attend LSU.

Just curious, what brings OOS applicants to LSU, football/baseball?

We actually do live in Louisiana. But I do believe there was a spike in oos students applying. After LSU won the National championship.
I know half of Alabama students come from oos. They give crazy merit money.

The 2019-20 National Championship and Joe Burrow are what caused me to consider LSU. Obviously those arenā€™t the sole reasons I applied, but Itā€™s doubtful I would have given LSU a second thought without that exposure the school got.

Iā€™m OOS (well, international so very out of state). I was initially attracted to LSU due to its sort of proximity to New Orleans (Iā€™m a huge Saints fan) and because of the football and school spirit (obviously Joe Burrow and the National Championship helped with exposure for that) but I also love the southern hospitality, gorgeous campus, and just the unique culture of southern Louisiana. And did I mention the school spirit? Geaux tigers!

You definitely canā€™t beat the school spirit! We live in GA. My sonā€™s best friend & his family, who we met when my son was 2 years old, are huge LSU fans (theyā€™re originally from Louisiana). It didnā€™t take long for our son to become a die-hard LSU fan, too! His birthday gift for the past 11 years has been a trip to see an LSU football game (sometimes at LSU & sometimes at an away stadium). Plus the Peach Bowl last year. This year, we had tickets to the LSU/Texas game at LSU on our sonā€™s actual birthday. Unfortunately, the game was canceled due to covid. He has had his heart set on attending LSU as far back as I can remember. He dresses in LSU gear from head to toe pretty much every day, including for one of his senior portrait pics! We officially toured the campus & attended a baseball game & a basketball game last Februaryā€¦and he loved every second of it! We told him he could attend LSU (or any other out of state school), but only if he received enough merit $ to make it reasonable in comparison to in-state tuition. Although, we were hoping for a bit more in merit $ (he received the $19k & $1,550 jobā€¦4.0 uw & 1420 SAT), it looks like heā€™s officially going to be a Tiger! He is still waiting to hear from 5 more schools, but I donā€™t think he cares what they say!

We are getting to the end of the month. Anyone have any insight on when finalist for stamps/presidential will be announced.

Has anyone not heard from LSU? My D applied TO when the option was given so perhaps itā€™s just taking longer.

If you changed to test optional it does push back the decision. My daughter changed it and she wait awhile longer but eventually got in. Good luck.

Thank you!

Same here. DD as TO and cricketsā€¦

If you are from up north, the price at the southern schools (all in) can be 1/3 cheaper before taking into consideration financial aid/merit. Hard to justify schools in the New England with a price tag of over $70k per year.

Anyone know timing for admission notification for transfer students?

Is it weeks, months?

Normally a couple of weeks after RD decision comes out, based on many other colleges information.

Proud Papa

My son was selected as a finalist for Stamps/presidential scholarships.

Came out today

From email, portal or mail?

He received an email with instructions to rsvp through the portal.

Did they ask your daughter if she wanted to switch text optional after she had already submitted the form?

Did your daughter switch to test optional after she had already submitted the form??

Yes she had submitted app with intention to submit scores but changed her mind when she saw test optional. It delayed her decision a couple weeks but came through with admitted and did get some merit aid. Thx
