LSU class of 2025

So like when she originally submitted the form she chose to have her test scores included?

yes. Original app had scores to be submitted. They had not gone test optional. When they did she signed back to portal and changed her submission status. was very easy and they did you give option. Thx

Me too! Seemed forever for a response - great acceptance letter! Odd response day, Thursday, after 8pm, but I will take it!

Question about merit aid. D received an offer that includes merit scholarship plus an oppty to earn a small amount through a Presidentā€™s student aid job. Iā€™m not sure I want her working first year. Does she have to take the job, or could she take only the merit scholarship?

I think the ā€œworkā€ is so small that shall take less effort/time than what a student spends on YouTube or other social media.

If you go into the myLSU portal (not the admissions portal), you can see the merit awards and the job ā€œawardā€ listed separately under financial aid. It looks like you can either accept or reject each offer individually. But, I agree with the last post that these types of jobs (at least at other schools) are usually only 10-15 hours/week, theyā€™re on campus, they schedule around the studentā€™s classes, etc. I am also a bit apprehensive about my son having a job his first year, but weā€™re kind of hoping it will help him get to know people and the campus since heā€™s OOS & doesnā€™t know anyone else attending.

Has anyone attended, or is anyone planning to attend, the Eye of the Tiger admitted student day? With so many schools doing virtual tours and virtual admitted student days, itā€™s surprising that LSU is doing theirs in person! We booked our hotel & are scheduled to attend the 2/19 session. Iā€™m just wondering if itā€™s worth the drive from Atlanta for a 4 hour session. Especially when we have already been to the campus a few times & we already know our son is going to choose LSU.

how do you login to this portal do they send you access?

Does LSU offer anything for national merit finalists and if so, how much?

Up until 2 years ago, LSU published merit scholarship info online and in their catalog. For some reason, they have elected to hide the information from potential applicants. Itā€™s likely that the following scholarship for NMF students is still awarded, perhaps with an adjustment for inflation. From the 2018-19 catalog:

LSU Distinguished Freshman Award

Criteria: College-sponsored National Merit Finalist who indicates LSU as their first-choice institution

Award: $2,000 per year and the opportunity to earn up to $1,550 per year by participating in the Presidentā€™s Future Leaders in Research Program. This scholarship is in addition to the studentā€™s merit scholarship offer through Presidentā€™s Alumni Scholars, LSU Alumni Associationā€™s Global Leaders, Flagship Scholars Award, LSU Academic Scholars Award, or the Tiger Excellence Scholars Award.

The Presidentā€™s Future Leaders in Research Program offers a unique opportunity for students to conduct research early in their college career. Students are partnered with a faculty member in the field of their choice to work side-by-side in a research setting learning what a career in their chosen field may be like. As a member of the research team, students receive guidance and support to expand their knowledge and skill. Students participating in this program can work up to 20 hours per week to earn up to $1,550 per year. The student is paid an hourly wage and paychecks are sent bi-weekly.

You shall receive an email from LSU with your user name if you are chosen to apply for more scholarships. Click the link in the email and reach log in page. Use ā€œforget my passwordsā€ to reset and then you are ready to go.

My D just completed the set up process stated above, and now 5 scholarships are shown up in her MyLSU portal for her to apply.

Thank you!

New to this forum. Applied back in August, all except ACT scores (as we didnā€™t have one) Finally was able to flip the switch to TO 12/14/2020 the day we got the email. Seems like an EXCEPTIONALLY long wait time as Iā€™ve already gotten in at the other schools I applied to. Question: the fact that we are OOS and likely full pay, would that add anything to the appeal of our application? Otherwise 3.6 GPA/volunteer/club founder/sports and applying to a smaller major within the school.

I applied test optional with a 3.4 gpa with 4 teacher recommendations what are my chances of getting in?!?!?

LSU needs money so if you pay you get in, just my opinion.

and so, if i have not received this email or access to, i have not qualified for any merit or scholarships? how long between acceptance and access email?
