LUMS second round of admission

2nd round hasn’t even started yet. I called lums yesterday and they said they’ll start sending acceptances by mid june.

@Ali163 They’ve just released the first round of self paid and financial aid applicants

Do I still have a chance if i didn’t get in the first round?Cause I think i was eligible for 1st round…Anyways,thanks guys.And please post here when 2nd round starts

@Ali163 I will IF I get in. :stuck_out_tongue:
And no you won’t be. You still have a chance because everyone is still waiting for the second list of the First Round.

Whatt?Second list??I swear this is confusing.If Lums says ke they’ll start 2nd round by mid june.Then the 2nd list you’re talking about should be around the corner haina?Anyways sorry to keep bothering you.It’s just I’m kinda in that desperate situation cause I don’t wanna give other entrance exams like Nust,Giki and Uet etc so

Hi guys. I applied in the second round. 3A*s 3As 4Bs O levels. 2As 1C A levels. Took a gap year(stupid nust) My SAT score was 1950. What do you reckon my chances are?

A reply would really help guys :frowning:

@Ladness your grades are good and im told that a gap year shouldnt be much of a problem.In the second round the main factor will be availability of a seat. And no one knows for sure what criteria lums would use to fill the open seats.

Well first of all, thank you for replying, really appreciate it. And secondly, about the seats, I called the admissions office and they told me it would be purely merit based and wouldn’t depend on if seats were available for people applying in the second round. Now I don’t know if LUMS has decided to change it up or if the admissions office person was lying to me. :confused: The woman said people applying in the second round would have the same chance of getting an acceptance now, which frankly, does make sense. Now I just want to know if my credentials are enough to secure my admission.

@Ladness Your alevel result certainly fulfills their requirements of a minimum of BBC. You have 6As in Olevels which is, I THINK, the borderline. (I’m not sure about this though) As for the SAT score, it’s good for lums as i know people who got in with 1700 and 1800s

@RT1326 Ohh okayy, thank you. And that’s what frightens me. I think they’re giving more preference to people with better O and A level results. They replaced the LCAT for the SAT and it seems like its just a formality. My first preference was SSE, the test went okayish, and the second was Econ. I’m hoping to get in so I don’t have to go through all the entry test nonsense for the other unis.

Yeah theyre definitely placing more importance to your grades rather than SAT score this year

@RT1326 Yeah but they have to balance out the grades and the SAT scores somehow, or else that would be completely unfair to those who performed relatively well in what was supposed to be their entrance exam.

@Ladness Did they ask you about your gap year?
Lums mentioned it on their website that students who applied for the second round of admission will only be considered if any seats from the first round will be left. (Which sucks)
I don’t even know if they’re done with their first round of offers since many students are still waiting. Students who got 2080 in their SAT’s and have extremely good grades.
Your SAT score and grades are really good. You’ll easily get in. :slight_smile:

@Ladness And I think you should start applying in other unis. This girl called lums and they said they’ll send offers in JULY. I called them the next day and they told me they’ll start sending acceptances by mid June. And yet nobody thus far has received any acceptance.

@Shumama Unfortunately I didnt ask.
I know, i saw that too, but when i called the admissions office, the woman assured me that it was going to be merit based and not if seats were available. And she wasnt like other people of the admissions office, she was really helpful. 2 days before i got to talk to her i called the office and some guy picked up who was in no mood to talk and told me no admissions had been sent as yet and that all the admissions would go out at the start of July. Ive seen alot of deserving people not as yet get an admission which makes me wonder if they ARE now actually selecting people on the basis of merit. Taking a look at all the candidates from the first and second rounds and then making their decision, which is actually the right thing to do.
And thank you, i hope so. Your grades are good too, and extra curriculars are really impressive, you should get in hands down :slight_smile:
And thats what im going to do now :frowning: Lums really needs to be better organized than this.

Yes I figured that they were considering all the candidates as lums contacted me somewhere in March or April where they asked for my Gap Year info. While people from first round were contacted later. I talked to a woman too who said that they’ll start sending acceptances by mid of June and I think that’s not the case.
Honestly, I can’t even figure out what lums’s criteria is. People with a score of 1420-1700 have received their acceptances yet other deserving students are still waiting.
My grades are sadly okay-ish. However I’m hoping that they’ll take me for cause of my extra curriculars. :stuck_out_tongue:
You should join his group on facebook. ‘lums admission 2015’
As soon as someone gets in, he/she posts it there.

@Ladness

@Shumama I was never contacted…and now im worried :frowning:
Yeah, it seems like they will take longer to send out admissions.
And sameeee, they are so weird like that. I think they are accepting people whose applications theyve seen and whom they think are shoe ins to get in. It could be that LUMS hasnt even seen the apps of some people, which is the only reasonable explanation i could come up with. We almost have the same grades so either we both get in, or neither one of us does :stuck_out_tongue: Hopefully they start looking at SAT scores when accepting candidates whose grades arent outstanding. What was your SAT score btw?
And okay ill join that group.

You weren’t??? Some people got a call from lums. I received an email. Maybe it doesn’t really matter. As people were asked to give a reason why they took a gap year. I was asked if I was studying anywhere atm. Maybe they randomly contacted people or something.
I think they’re considering students by their cases. Some people with average grades got in because of their SAT score. Others got in because of their grades even though their SAT score was really low.
You have better grades and you will get in. In which school did you apply btw? Because this matters a lot.
My SAT score was 1700. Sadly.
