Eminem is the greatest. Without a doubt. Amazing lyrics, better when he wasn’t mature haha, his old songs were amazing and some of his new songs are beast! But Eminem can flow so smoothly and is such a good freestyler, listen to Despicable. Eminem is the best rapper ever.

I liked the OLD em. Now he talks about being depressed all the time. Really? EVERY SONG?

And he’s def not the greatest. Let’s get some intelligence into your music not just witty remarks (this goes for all non-Lupe rappers)

Your saying Lupe is the best?

Yeah that is what this thread was created for.

Lol I see… But nah he isn’t the best, it’s really matter of opinion, that’s why we are discussing it.

ugh Eminem is not the greatest. So tired of people being on his ****. His older stuff is good, but now? No. Calling him the best rapper ever… I kinda take offense to that, really. Even when his stuff was good, he was nowhere near the greatest. Only thing he’s the greatest at is appealing to the white suburban kids- the people who are really buying albums nowadays.

“I guess that’s why they call it window pane.” homg lyrical genius.

Em got off track after the marshall mathers LP. Lupe’s not the greatest thought, he one’s of the best, but not the best.

Lil-Wayne is a pretty bad lyricist, but he has decent flow and a “unique” voice. That and the fact that all his songs are party bangaz make him a pretty big hit. Drake just blows in all categories. He can’t sing at all (Did you hear him at last years grammies?), his rhymes are so simple. There isn’t any subtlety, complicated flow, or complicated rhyme scheme; he is just a product of everything that hip-hop is NOT. He’s been molded and produced by the industry since Degrassi(lol). Lupe Fiasco has substance, flow, and subtlety. Unfortunately he has had to dumb down his lyrics(see “dumb it down”) and make his production more mainstream. Bottom line is mainstream rappers suck, not because they are mainstream, but because they dumb themselves down to become mainstream.

Lupe is amazing. I am not a big rap lover but he is truly one of the greats.

On the topic of Eminem, I really do struggle to see why people hold him up so high. The Eminem Show was the first album I ever bought and it was easily his last great album. Encore was decent, everything past that was sup-par. Eminem WAS one of the greatest rappers out there, but not so much anymore.

On the topic of Lil Wayne, Weezy is overrated by pop culture and is underrated by rap heads. People love to hate on them, but I can’t find a single person (white or black, rap lover or rap hater) who doesn’t have at least 5 songs by him on their iPod. He is a great rapper, just somewhat overrated. equips flameshield

^ You’re right except for the rap heads part. He’s not underrated at all.

Drake/Lil Wayne are currently the best

All time though, Jay-Z lasted pretty long, the beats to his songs are good, his lyrics/meaning are better than most and then he has the “voice” for rap

I don’t have any Lil Wayne on my iPod.

If Drake/Lil Wayne are the best… then I’m the best mathematician to come out a vagina.

Best does not equal hot.

Drake and Lil Wayne have the SELL factor.

They can sell **** because they hit the right demographic.

exactly^^^^^^^^^

@MITHopeful - So true.

As for Lupe, he’s a beast. Words I Never Said is a GREAT single, despite the fact that Atlantic took hold for this record. I’m seriously ****ed that his release show in NYC is 19+, or I’d be there :/

How about we move away from the mainstream if you want to figure out the best rapper?

Eyedea WAS probably the best rapper, but he died late last year due to accidental overdose. This is probably one of the greatest rap songs you’ll ever hear: <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

Macklemore is great too: [YouTube - Macklemore - Otherside](<a href=“Macklemore - Otherside - YouTube”>Macklemore - Otherside - YouTube)

And Slug (Atmosphere, Rhymesayers): [YouTube - Atmosphere - Guarantees](<a href=“Atmosphere - Guarantees (Official Video) - YouTube”>Atmosphere - Guarantees (Official Video) - YouTube)

Mac Lethal: [YouTube - Mac Lethal-Backward](<a href=“Mac Lethal-Backward - YouTube”>Mac Lethal-Backward - YouTube)

Don’t disappoint me CC’ers… underground hip hop is where it’s at ;)

^

Eyedea…

I can’t even decipher what he’s saying. He spit at a speed so fast that’s crazy.
But what I could hear, it was dope.

Underground is where it’s at.

MIT- How can you say MBDTF was overrated? It’s up there with the best rap albums ever, hands down. I can’t think of another album with 10 or 11 really good songs. Plus TCD and Graduation were really good too.

kanye for sure.

Asher Roth anyone? I thought “I Love College” was just a ploy to get people to listen to his mixtapes, which were really dope…

^ He’s so underrated. The dude spits fire, and he’s so real too. He doesn’t claim to hood or anything. He admits that he’s just some pot smoking white kid out of the burbs.

@Bazzle, Eh those rapper were O.K. I’m still sticking with canibus thought.
<a href=“Canibus - The Ballad (Eminem Diss) - YouTube”>Canibus - The Ballad (Eminem Diss) - YouTube;

Underground is the **** thought, i won’t lie.

Eyeada is fast as hell thought.

@Daxlo - I think Canibus is pretty good when it comes to lyrics, but his flow kinda of throws me off in that song.

For the guys I posted, it’s obvious why Eyedea is a beast, but I like the substance of their songs. Macklemore raps about real ****. The song I posted is about his addiction problems and how Sizzurp shouldn’t be glorified by rappers like Lil Wayne. He has one called “Wings” ( [YouTube - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Wings](<a href=“Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Wings - YouTube”>Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Wings - YouTube) ), which is about life where he grew up. Every song with him just tells a story, and a good one at that.

Slug has been rapping forever, and just keeps putting out great tracks.
