Lying about submission date.

Are we "allowed" to?

For example, where I'm at (France) it's 2:53 am, but in NY (location of a school I'm applying to...) it's 9:53 pm. So, instead of signing the date as...1/1/2012, can I sign 12/31/2011 or will Admissions find out? Is even okay if I submit my application on January 1st (January 1st is the deadline)?

Sorry if this sounds confusing.

Bump! C’mon guys, please help me :(

If the deadline says January 1st that means that it must be submitted by 11:59 PM of January 1st. I remember there was a bunch of debate about whether it means your time zone or theirs, but I don’t remember what the answer turned out to be. You have plenty of time. Happy New Year

Do not lie. It must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST January 1st. Your time zone is irrelevant. Best of luck!

^Thanks guys. I feel more relaxed now :)

You’re welcome. Happy New Years!

Oh, so I do not have to submit until TOMORROW night? Oh my that is such a RELIEF!

When my daughter submitted her ED application to Wellesley, she submitted the application at about 11:50 p.m. California time, but the admissions office was fine with that (even though it was three hours later East Coast time).

GOOD LUCK!

The applicable time is determined by where the college is. There is usually some leeway beyond that time so you can usually go a few hours over. As to trying to backdate an application, it is generally pointless to try as the receiving college’s computer file will show actual time of receipt of your on-line application and that is the time that matters.
