Lyman Briggs

So, I got accepted at Msu and lyman briggs over a month ago. like madison college, i know that lyman briggs is a first come, first serve deal. so, once you're accepted, does it matter when you actually enroll? like, if i decide in march that i want to go to msu, will my spot at lyman briggs be gone?

I don't think so. So long as you've sent in your Mich State U. housing deposit, I believe your slot in Briggs is held until you indicate, definitively, that you are not coming to MSU, at which point they would release your Briggs slot. But don't just take my word. Briggs is a little different from Madison, as it's a residential "program" within the Coll of Natural Science as opposed to being a free standing "college" like Madison, which has its own dean and policies. So I'd buzz either Nat. Sci or Briggs administrators next week to make sure -- you never can be too sure, but I think I'm right.

How did you hear about Briggs? Was it about a month after your acceptance, I think you told me that a little while ago. Did we have to state on our application that we were interested in Briggs? Did we have to send in a housing "deposit" (Is it really a deposit or can we get our money back after we send it in) before they consider us to Briggs? And what exactly is Madison? Sorry i'm a little confused here.

Okay so Politics.... I don't discuss that P word, so I have no interest.

briggs is kind of like a school for science, like if you're a pre med. when you first apply to MSU you declare "Lyman Briggs" as your major. that's how you get in, they don't "pick" people to admit. so, the first 600 people who list "lyman briggs" as their major who they accept or enroll will get to be in lyman briggs. first come, first serve.

Okay, so that clears it up. I thought it was like an Honors College you got admitted to, not a pre-med program.

Alright, I just found out that there was a separate Honors College. I'm not eligible for it though, I had a 29 not a 30 on my ACT, and my school doesn't rank.
