Haha, she’s in the training room mostly [where injured athletes go for treatment and whatnot], but she’s also the girls’ head crew coach. One of my friends was her advisee. She’s really cool. She is a dorm assistant in Kravis [a girls’ dorm] and she also teaches plaque carving, I believe.

You don’t know which dorm you’ll be in until you arrive on move-in day [though you’ll find out whether or not you have a roommate and who your roommate is beforehand].

Not trying to intrude, but wouldn’t announcing the roommates when you get there beat the whole point of talking it over and seeing whose going to buy what supplies before you get there?

In all honesty, they told me my roommate’s name before move-in day, but they gave me no way to contact her and as it turns out she didn’t have a facebook either, so it’s not as if we could have discussed it. What’s more important is it really didn’t matter. There were very few things that were “shared” [a trash can, a small rug, a poster], so roommate shopping would’ve been pretty pointless. We accumulated a few things over the course of the year [christmas lights, an old armchair, etc.]. There really aren’t any supplies that would need to be bought jointly, so don’t worry about it.

mr scheibe does things like visit you in your dorm room randomly as a new student which is nice. he also is one of the advisers that makes exam week study snacks (or at least he did my freshman year, there was a girl on my floor who had him as an adviser)

@ Izzy: What do you feel sets Middlesex apart from other boarding schools? How are the math and science classes/facilities? What is your favorite part about Middlesex? It seems like the school is very preppy and sportsy, would you say this is true?

Honestly? Not much. Granted, the English program is unique and very good. I believe that’s one of the school’s major strong suits. As for the rest, well, it’s pretty much average [as far as boarding schools go]. I’d say it’s pretty similar to Groton [except we’re better than them, of course ;)]. The science facilities are quite good, though I don’t know what you would call “math facilities”. I really like all of the math teachers though. I’m not very good at math and teachers are very generous with their time if you need extra help. My favorite part is the environment and my friends. There are plenty of fun things to do with friends, even if it’s just as simple as ordering Chinese and watching a movie.

Definitely preppy and sporty, though many people do not fit this stereotype.

^^um, i’d say just pack them all. you don’t wanna be unprepared. However, if room is really an issue [like you only have one suitcase or something], then pack more of your warm-weather clothes and ask your parents to send them to you in a couple weeks by mail. It starts getting cool around late september/early october. You will definitely need pants before parents weekend, but you most likely won’t need boots until after parents weekend and maybe not even until after thanksgiving break.
