^ Doesn’t it depend on who turns down the spot - student with FA or student w/out FA? I think if “with FA”, those dollars can go back into the fund for a “Financial Aid wait list” candidate.
@sunnyschool I think that is somewhat true - I doubt schools over accept FA students at same rate as FP and when we were briefly on the FA wait list, we were told that if someone turned down a FA offer, that money was then applied to the waitlist but of course if you need a full ride, this won’t help until they have the $$ to offer that, for example, and kids are still being pulled to fill holes but I do think some FA wait lists are ranked? Not entirely sure
Wow. I just found the parents M10 section after lurking am students. D2 got 5 accepts 2 rejects 2 WL. She is sad but resilient. My D1 goes to Peddie & D2 but not sure of the fit for D2. A lot of decisions to make.
Sad with 5 acceptances? That sounds like a reason for celebrating! Some people have no acceptances.
^ So true, @doschicos – every year, a lot of great kids get completely shut out – with just rejection and WL letters. And every year, some kids are unhappy with their choices, because their love for a particular school was unrequited. Count your blessings, people! And love the school that loves you back.
@cameo43 I have that kid!!! And he is taking it like a champ. @KinestheticKT --he would gladly take one of those 5!!! What an accomplishment!
@buuzn03 - Right there with ya about hoping for wait list movement. I agree if people know they are declining certain schools, notification can only help those of us waiting.
IMO…no one really knows…and it’s probably a different situation at each school…
Hang in there @sunnyschool – positive vibes!!! @Leslie41 – curious as to where you are headed for your road trip???
I want to say there were reports here last year of at least three applicants being pulled from the wait list at Exeter. Very rare but it does seem to happen. If I recall it was even before A10 but maybe someone else might correct me.
@doschicos and @cameo43 my DD loved Emma Willard (Rej) and Mercersburg (ML) and spoke about them a great deal. The initial shock was sad, but the bounce back was within a couple of hours and with some good nachos. Yes food helps in moderation. Buzzn03 thanks! I think it’s that time when I now get out of the way and let her decide. But I admit from a parental view of things it’s challenging. But congratulations to everyone! This process is not easy & no matter where your DC go in the fall THEY WILL rock it! BE POSITIVE!
Ok…technology is great…until it doesn’t work. We had one decision that never came through, or I guess we should say, we couldn’t open it. Somehow we got on a hotel PC this morning (we had hockey championships in Dallas this weekend), and we were able to get it to load!!! DS got into one of his top choice schools!!! It only takes one and this is a super sweet one…I had pretty much dismissed it as either being a rejection or waitlist notification. I think this has taken 10 years off my life, but we are now making the 6 hour drive home with a travel league championship title AND a SMS Lion! Thanks for your support everyone, I can’t tell you how much your encouragement and kind words have helped. Positive vibes to those who are still waiting-- it is painful, but I know it will all work out!
Congratulations @buuzn03 ! I would have been freaking out last year if I wasn’t able to access decisions for sure. I’m glad is worked out in the end.
@buuzn03 ! I am doing the happy dance for you right now. Seriously!! What great news. Congratulations to your son!!! ( And, now, go celebrate!). <:-P <:-P
Yay @buuzn03 !!! FANTASTIC NEWS! Thanks for letting us know :D/
PS. @buuzn03 , that was quite a suspenseful episode… Wow. PLease consider posting on the results thread if you haven’t already!
Thank you so much!!! It has been harrowing. But a very happy ending!
I’m so happy for you, @buuzn03 !! Congratulations!!!
@buuzn03 congratulations! I can’t imagine your relief after the pain of the last two days! So which school???
Congrats @buuzn03 !!! So happy for your student!!
@Korab1 St Mark’s…actually was his second choice behind Groton…and mainly because he liked the fact Groton had a chaplain led chapel service every morning, very similar to his current school, and the coach there played in college with one of the coaches he knows here. He is thrilled!!!
