<p>If you want to be a High School English teacher, but did not major in it in college...is it better to get an MA in English, get certified and teach OR get an MA in Education, get certified, and teach?</p>
<p>(And yes, I love the subject, its a bit of a long story why it was not my major.)</p>
<p>You need to find out what the certification requirements are in the state where you intend to work. If you did not have a strong literature background in college, even the MA coursework might not give you enough lit credits for high school subject area certification in English. If you do have a strong literature background, you may have enough (or almost enough) credits already.</p>
