MA vs MBA I/O Psychology

Hi everyone,

I applied to (and was accepted by) NYU for their MA in I/O psychology for this fall. I also submitted my application to Baruch for an MS in the same field, I have yet to hear back from them. I am also applying to the MBA program with an emphasis in I/O psychology from Baruch's school of business

My biggest question is: what are some advantages/disadvantages of going with an MA/MS versus an MBA? How will my job prospects differ? Do consulting companies tend to prefer one over the other?

Thanks!

Hi,

Would you please care to share stats here. I’m also preparing fall 2015 intake in the same program. It will help me work on my application.

Regards

I’m curious about what OP decided to do. In general I would say that the big consulting companies would prefer an MBA than an MS in I/O, unless they need an I/O psychologist. I think if one is going after an MS in I/O psychology one should do it because they actually want to work as an industrial-organizational psychologist, not as a substitute for an MBA. Moot point for the OP, but may be useful to someone else.

Hey just a quick question or two about the NYU I/O program. Do they award financial aid?? Are you from out of state? I was considering that program too so just wondering…my main issues were cost and having to move to NY
