Mac Back to School Deal?

With the new MacBook Pro updates, I'm about ready to buy one. Question is, should I wait until the back to school deal? For the past two years they've started on June 5th, but I haven't found any information on whether they will have one this year or when it'll start. I will need a laptop by mid/late June, so should I wait until June 5th and find out or should I get one now with the rebate ($200?) they have in place?

Yeah, I’ve been harassing Apple about this too. Seriously, it’s almost June. Why not wait? You can always rush-delivery your laptop. When I spoke to Apple, they said they’ll be unveiling it in June. So…yeah.

They have a deal just about every year (it’s helpful to clear out new iPod stock so new ones can be introduced from September-November, and it sells Macs), so I wouldn’t worry about whether or not the deal will be offered. It may not be in place by that time, however…

So what does the deal include?
a 200 dollar education discount + the 200 dollar rebate?

Usually an education discount, a $200 rebate on an iPod, and (depending on the year), a free inkjet printer.

^
dang…hmm i think im gonna wait..i guess.

Same here, I’ll wait until June 10th-ish and hopefully the deal will have started by then.

The education discount and the free printer are in effect all year, it’s just the iPod that comes out in June

I need a new ipod…lost mine earlier this year ;( so i think im gonna wait.. >< june is only a week away.. so :)

It’s been unveiled today!

Buy a Mac –> Get Student Discount + Get a $299 off an iPod Touch or a Nano. :)

So… no free printer this year? Or am I missing something?

Because if there is a deal with a free printer, I might go straight through Apple instead of buying a computer deal (basically, computer + printer + messenger bag + assorted cables) from my school. On the other hand, will I even need a printer? My brother said he just used his friend’s because his ran out of color ink…

Edit: Found the printer deal. Looks like my school won’t be getting a share of this guy’s laptop.

Can anybody point me toward the limits on how many items we can buy?
I remember there was something like a limit of one laptop purchase per student?

Here’s the link to apple’s student sale: [Apple - Back to School - Buy a Mac for college and get a free iPod*](http://www.apple.com/backtoschool/index.html?CID=WWW-NAUS-BTS20080530-OSA9M)

I can’t link to the page that has the limits as the page re-directs if you try to access if directly, but here’s what it says:

You get the free printer as well, if you order before July 21. So it’s $200 off a Pro/$100 off a Macbook, free nano/touch 8GB/$299 off a 16GB touch, and a free printer. Unfortunately I’m only going to arrive in the US in late July, so I’ll miss out on the printer!

Pretty sure the printer is year round. Earlier this year it said the deal “ends” on April 22nd

Waiting for next year…
The New Nehalem CPU on Macbook Pro. Or maybe more surprise next(Blue-ray??:))

Not blu-ray. Apple still has to jump through too many hoops for that one. But if there’s a “HOMG, gotta have it” update, you can always sell. ;)

So the updates will be out monday??? That’s the day when Apple has it’s presentation on new merchandise, right?

For those who already bought one, does apple require you prove your status as a college student in order to redeem the refund? I wanna get my college laptop this year, but if they require you to send proof, I’ll just wait.
