I am not sure what laptop to get for college. I have been eyeing the windows 8 computers that are like the Lenovo Yoga. I do enjoy the touchscreen and being able to turn to turn it into a tablet. But I also like the Mac, which is small, simple, and I do want to go into fashion so I'm not sure which route to go. I also want a computer that lasts a while, the desktop I use now is from '05 and still runs fine.

I would say go for the Mac. It is really good for media/design students. I took a class in my freshman year and my teacher used a Mac and loved it! Also, my mom was going to get one and she is in marketing.

Honestly, I think it comes down to personal preference. With the exception of a few industries, most industries have people who use either one or the other. Obviously the largest market share is in Windows.

Perhaps you can Google search the kinds of applications/programs that people use to do work in fashion, and see what operating system they are typically used on? (Remember that you can run Windows on a Mac, if you only want to run one or two programs occasionally. But if you are always going to be booting Windows, you might as well just get a PC. I’ve also realized that it’s kind of slow and frustrating to run Windows on a Mac, although in Mac’s defense I was trying to run Vista instead of XP. I’m not sure why I did that.)
