Mac vs. PC and Outdoor Emory Orientation

Hey I am wondering what is more popular/better at Emory. Mac or PC. I know that the campus owned computers such as the one's at Cox run the Dual Boot thing where you can select your operating system (atleast that's what I was told on my campus visit) but as far as general student consensus goes, what do they prefer? Also what do most teachers use (I am interested in Business so those teachers)?

Price of the computer is not an issue when deciding between Mac or PC. I can afford the Mac Pros, etc.

Also, is anyone planning on doing the Outdoor Emory Orientation? Or have any of you been apart of that during your freshman year? Any comments on how it went would be great. Thank you!

mac looks better, have great webcam and and have longer battery (at least 7 hours for the pro). get a mac pro if you have the money. but if its between the non mac pro and a pc, i would just get a pc because you would get more stuff with the money you would have spent. for the price of a non mac pro, there are lots of hp and dells that outperforms it.

Alright thanks, and the price of the mac isn’t an issue… ill add that into the original… but thanks pizza

My son did the OEO last year and had a great time. He was able to meet lots of incoming freshmen before actual orientation. If you can go it would be well worth it.

Which trip did your son do?

Is is it possible to purchase a computer through the campus bookstore and get it send to your residence? Want to get one in advance of Orientation to get used to features.

Movinmom, sorry it took so long to get back to you. My son went on one of the white water rafting trips for OEO in TN. His roommate for sophmore year is one of the kids he met on the trip. A great way to meet other students ahead of orientation.

Try to buy it through the school since they can fix it for you if it breaks

My S is going on the surfing trip. Sounds fun!

Son & his freshman year roommate are part of the group leading the surfing trip. He was an OEO (Outdoor Emory Orientation) participant last year & loved it! Stayed in OEO. Agree with other posters that students should definitely do it!

Buy it at the Apple store and get your student discount. There are four Apple stores in Atlanta that can take care of any problems you have.
