Macalester College Class of 2023 RD

My daughter was accepted with a DeWitt scholarship SAT 1500 4.0 GPA unweighted. She still waiting to hear from others, but is very happy.

@crknwk2000 it’s $12500 per year.

My son applied through Questbridge but never completed the supplemental writing so his just said that since his was incomplete they were not able to review it and he could complete it by the 18th if he wished to try for the waitlist. I don’t think it would have mattered though because it was a reach and he has since decided to pursue nursing which is not offered.

Admitted! 1500 SAT/3.94 UW GPA/800 on Math 2, 730 on bio m/pretty good ECs, 18k/yr DeWitt. I know a lot of people who were super qualified and didn’t get in so don’t get down on yourself too much! A lot of it can end up being kind of a crapshoot, especially this year

My little sister got in, math major. 1280 SAT/3.98 WGPA, she had a lot of leadership roles, class president, insightful essays. 25k/yr DeWitt with a very generous fin aid package.

My daughter was accepted with 18k/yr DeWitt. 35 ACT, UW GPA 3.98, full IB, strong ECs.

I was accepted with a 16k per year Lealtald Scholarship and great need-based aid. 31 ACT, 3.91 weighted GPA, lots of extracurriculars, and some leadership positions.

Got in with Turck scholarship!! (Didn’t expect it at all cuz I’m an international& no one from our school got in before lol

Accepted with $18k DeWitt Scholarship!

wow shaker2008 !, 35ACT, 3.9 UW GPA waitlisted at Mac? Isn’t that like >1580 in SAT? Hopefully WL will work out.

Rejected, maybe cause I need 100% aid and I am an international student

@AnyaMotorina given the standardized test scores you posted elsewhere I suspect you’d have to have off the charts recommendations and essays to be considered at a top tier LAC and then succeed at it. Consider using your safety as a way to develop those skills further and see if a transfer is possible later if you still want a private LAC. Or take a gap year and retake the tests and target a specific school that aligns with your background and interests. There are lots of schools out there and there is seldom only one school that is a match for you. Best wishes on the journey.

@shuffle1 Yes, I know I will take a gap year and will prepare for the tests all this year

@shuffle1sorry, what means LAC ?

@AnyaMotorina Liberal arts college

A belated note that D19 (35 ACT/4.0 uw GPA) was accepted with a Dewitt Scholarship. Definitely in the running for possible matriculation. Sounds like it was an even harder year for admissions. I know that everyone will find their own best place!
