macbook air or pro for dartmouth?

I've decided to buy a computer through dartmouth but I don't know which one would be better. Do you students tend to carry around their computers all the time (will you need to bring it to class, etc.?) Because if then I think the macbook air would be better. If not, maybe the pro? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Air is terrible. Get the Pro. Or just a regular MacBook.

Take DartmouthForever’s advice. The extra few pounds will not be worth sacrificing the pluses of the fully functioning comp. I’d also recommend investing in a laptop backpack. Definitely worth the money for the ease and convenience.

sorry but will the mac come with a carrying case? or do i have to buy that seperately?

I do not believe they come with any sort of carrying case. But you can buy something online for relatively cheap.

yeah you can find some pretty good deals on amazon for carrying cases

defintitley the PRO, which comes with more memory. It should last you all four years.

hey im still in high school so im not really sure if my advice is wanted here but i feel like i should give it anyways…a macbook air is a complete waste of money…a simple macbook is more than enough for anything you would need to do in college unless your majoring in photography or smoething that involves massive movie editing, in which case you should spring for the macbook pro…however a tip from someone who knows a decent amount about computers…buy the base model of whatever you want (macbook or pro) and then head over to outer world computing website (google outer world computing), and buy any ram and hard drive upgrades you want through them…its about 1/3 of the price of buying thru apple and they include easy install videos!

Either a macbook or a macbook pro…the air just isn’t going to do what you’ll need. And I’d get just a basic neoprene protective case for it…you don’t need a special laptop backpack…just whatever your normal bag is will be more than sufficient
