Do colleges look down on that?

For purchase i had an audition scheduled but i couldn't make it for circumstances i have told the college. I also cannot make the next two days they have scheduled for auditioning for acting because i will be out of the country. They said it was fine to send in a dvd, but does that severely hurt my chances?

I mean i can't do anything else about it but should i just prepare myself more-so for a rejection?

Obviously I don't work on the panel of admissions at SUNY Purchase but I'll tell you generally what I've heard concerning this...

From what I understand, especially at this time of economic hardship for a lot of people, mail-in auditions are just as legitimate and not looked down on. If you've explained your situation to the school, I really do not think it would be fair of them to mark you down because of it. If your talent is of the caliber their school likes to admit, they're not going to say no just because you mailed in an audition tape. Sometimes it even helps you because they can rewatch it if they want to.
