Mail or Fax?

Is there a difference between mailing something in and faxing something in? I want to send colleges a copy of my report card, but I don`t know if mailing it in is "better" than faxing it in, or the other way around.

Doesn't your guidance counselor send your transcripts as part of the Mid Year Report? If not, for "report card" purposes, you should mail it so that they colleges can see that it's official and has not be altered. Other types of documents, such as letters updating colleges on your activities, can be faxed.

If your GC faxes it and not you, it should be fine.

But I'd definitly prefer faxing if time is a priority. From prior experience with MIT, mailing takes 3-24 hours for the college to receive, mailing should take 1-2 weeks.

My counselor sent everything by fax. There were only two schools that wanted hard copies of the transcript, but besides that they told me faxing is the best because it saves them time.

I only have one copy of my report card, so the copies that colleges would receive would quite literally be "copies" anyway. I
m just worried that colleges would think that there
s a difference between mailing and faxing, although the final outcome (the actual copy of the report card) would be the same.

Oh, and my guidance counselor does sent midyear reports to the schools, but they only show the midyear grade itself. I want the colleges to see my first and second quarter grades.
