Mailing Tax Returns Financial Aid..?

I know it's late, I don't need to be told that, but I assume it's not "too" late since I'm still getting letters asking. We just recently got our taxes filed because we found out we needed to send them to colleges. Only one school so far has sent me a letter in the mail asking for a copy of my tax return, so I have absolutely no idea what that is asking for. Time's running out so if anyone could tell me what generally schools want for financial aid, such as the w2 form, tax return summary, like specific pages. We have a stack of like at least 20 pages here and have no clue which ones they want.
I've already sent in the rest of my FAFSA by the way, and I went to the FAFSA website after receiving the refund and edited it and put in all that information, but I still received another letter asking for the returns a week later. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks.

Call the Financial Aid dept at the school…some want just the return (1-2 pages) and some want all schedules, W2s, 1099s, etc. The returns have to be signed where there is a place for a signature, if joint need both signatures. Find out if you can fax or overnight.

Yes, make sure you check with individual schools. Some want tax returns, etc before responding to a FA application. Others will use FAFSA and CSS Profile but want the returns for verification later – after the student decides to go to the school.
