Main Essay

Feeling that my chances are on the bubble, I've felt a lot of pressure to turn out good essays since I think that will probably make or break my app. I just finished writing my main essay, but I'm a little leery of keeping it. My smaller essays dealt with my interest in history, I selected that as my first choice major, and the only additional test scores I'm sending in are my 5's on the U.S. and Euro AP history tests. Should I avoid then making my main essay talk about my interest in history? I can't decide whether they'll appreciate my passion for it, or whether on the larger essay they'd like to hear something else about me since my interest in it is apparent elsewhere in my application. I also have a question about length. Mine barely breaks one page. I know the guidlines say one or two pages, but do you think that they prefer people to come closer to two pages?

Thanks for the help.

I would focus on it. The smaller essays are important but no where near as important as the main one. Chicago likes to see that its students are dedicated to something so I would say focus on it.

Which prompt are you using?

Should the 1-2 pages be single spaces or double spaced?

I'm using the Miles Davis quote. I'm basically relating his desire to create new music to my desire to uncover new knowledge, specifically in the field of history.

My main essay was one page.....i thought it was a good length. Way over the 500 word limits that a lot of apps put on you.
