Main Nomination vs Competing Nomination

So my congressman gave me his Main nomination to Westpoint and a competeing nomination to Navy. I also have two other nominations(anoter to Westpoint and Navy totaling two and two). One from each Senator/

Is the "Main" Nomination the same as a presidential nomination? If so does that mean that I am accepeted to Westpoint?

Any info as well as chances of getting in?

Sounds like you received a “Principal” nomination which would mean yes, you should be receiving an appointment, assuming everything else in your file is good to go, i.e. academic, medical, etc.

What would qualify me academiclly?

Recipient of a Principle Nomination

I would also like to know what the minimum qualifications are just to compare to my own. Admissions has been emailing me a lot regarding my file. This is my third year applying and I believe I have portrayed my hard work which may have interested them. Admissions said that my file would be brought to the board upon completion which I have just done. Admissions said, “Your persistence and excellence at what you do may have paid off for you this year. I have indications that you have been selected as the principal nominee for your congressman’s vacancy. If you get fully qualified, you will be offered an appointment to West Point.” Admissions response is where my question stems from.

Anybody know the min. qualifications so I can compare my own?

Any insight would be great. Thanks.

This is a more difficult question than it seems. I don’t believe we have ever seen “minimum” qualifications. Rather, we see the profile of an incoming class. Take a look at the profiles for the past few years and see if you fit. We have often heard that persistence is appreciated and many new cadets are not recent high school graduates, but have put time into college/work, or have enlisted in the military.

Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.
