Is there an Ivy that is better suited than another for mainstream, politically moderate, social kids? I know there are kids with all different interests at all of the Ivies, but the schools seem to take on their own individual reputations. I'm just wondering how true the stereotypes are.

That’s what they are – the obvious stereotypes. In reality, lots and lots of kids are in the middle, may shift one direction or another. Some environments have a more liberal vibe (Brown) or conservative (PTon, DMouth) – but that’s all it is – a vibe, an veneer, a texture. In reality, all are filled with individuals throughout the spectrum

T26E4: PT, Is that Penn?

PTon = Princeton. Sorry it wasn’t clearer.

The general atmosphere is intellectual, and generally respectful of dialogue. An attestation to the quality of the student body. Do distateful things happen?

2006: Guest speaker shouted off stage at Columbia.
2014: Ray Kelly shouted down at Brown
2014 Harvard’s “Black Mass”

yep. But they are the extreme and become newsworthy b/c it confirms one side or another’s prejudice against the liberals or conservatives at Ivy X.

Like I said, the bulk of political discourse is grounded despite those aberrations.
