the options I have are “business” and “economics”.
I’ll also have a Management Information System degree. I’ve a programming background(small project on my own).
I wanna get into the tech industry.
from the look of business curriculum, it focuses on finance mostly.
btw the university is a Technical University and it is in the top 5
Any help would be greatly appreciated
What is it you want to do in the tech industry? Do you want to be an engineer, or work on the business side in something like marketing or finance?
software developer or data analyst both would work for me. not thinking of going academic tho
I wouldn’t choose business or economics if you want to be a software developer or data analyst. Computer science/data science/software engineering/mathematics/statistics would be good choices.
as I stated above these are the options I have also I’ll have a MIS major degree anyway. maybe I might add political science, international relations to the list.
If those are the only options you have available to you, you’ll have a hard time breaking into being a computer scientist or a data analyst. You need to have the skills in order to do the jobs, and those majors won’t really teach you the skills. Management information sciences is probably the closest you’ll get. Economics could be close too, if you take enough quantitative/math courses to learn to do heavy quantitative analysis. But you usually don’t get those by default in the economics major; you have to go into the math and/or statistics departments to get them.
But there are LOTS of other jobs in the technology industry. Tech companies, especially large ones, need lots of business managers, finance folks, IT folks, accountants, etc., to keep the business running.
