Major and Minor Question

At UoM, can you have a double major and one, possibly two minors?

Hey, if you’re willing to put in the time to get all the credit hours done necessary to, it’s all up to you. In four years, it seems like it would be very difficult to have a minor on top of a double major, and maybe downright impossible to have two minors with a double major, unless you’re coming in with a lot of credit already or plan on taking a multitude of summer classes. You just gotta remember you have 8 semesters to take not only the required classes for your majors and minors, but also fulfill the language requirement, distribution requirements, and general elective credits.

I guess it all depends on what the majors are how the prerequisite tracks go for both of them.

I’m curious as to why you’d want to do this.

If you’re interested in a lot of separate things, I don’t think it’s unreasonable, but I would also try to think in the context of careers and paring it down if necessary. It’s not as bad as entendu makes it sound because with a double major, you only have to fulfill distribution requirements for one major, which means everything from your other major and your minor(s) can count.

If you’re thinking about a double degree however, I don’t think the distributions overlap as easily.

how practical is it to double major? what percentage of people would you say 1. attempt and 2. follow through?
