I've already enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, but now I must decide on what I should major in. Originally, I was interested in majoring in biological sciences. However, I also noticed that I had the choice of majoring in biology. Is there any significant difference between these two majors at the University of Pittsburgh?

I might also add that I was/am interested in majoring in Neuroscience, but I also heard that this was one of the hardest science majors to pursue, especially since I might look into a double major. If I were to decide on pursuing this major, would I most likely be spending much of my time studying? My chief concern is that my persuing this major would detract from my social life (after all, college is a once in a lifetime experience). Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to take the easy road but, as a pre-med student, I'm bent on obtaining as high of a GPA as I can (whilst enjoying my college experience). The fact of the matter is that medical schools take undergrad GPA into deep consideration when making admissions decisions.

On that note, would it be wise for me to double major in biology/biological sciences (again, I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between the two) and psychology? Rather, would it be wise to do so with Neuroscience and psychology? What are your thoughts on a psychology minor in conjunction with one of these science majors? Again, my main goal is to achieve a balance between my studies and social life (so as to ensure that I do as best I can without being overwhelmed).

*I also forgot to add that I plan on taking a few honors courses...

Here are some of my credentials (to give you a general idea of what kind of a student I am, if it at all matters): 4.7 GPA, 34 ACT, 6th in the class out of 340...
