Major choice in admissions

Some colleges say that “major is not a factor in their admissions”. I just want to clarify- does this mean that they don’t admit by major, so there isn’t a set amount of people they admit per major and more popular majors aren’t more competitive; or they don’t look at major at all in admissions, like if you’re majoring in biology they’re not going to be looking specifically for a lot of science achievements; or both? I just want to make sure I know what this means.

That would mean they don’t admit by major.

They do not want 100% Biology majors.
So there is some looking at the majors…
But they are not limiting the number per major (some colleges do that)

Some schools do cap majors. Do your research.
