I'm applying early decision to wesleyan and have encountered a problem.. In the short answer section about an extra curricular activity, I wrote about a service program I created in my hometown and connected it to the university, obviously using the words Wesleyan and Middletown. However, I contacted tech support to ask if I'd be able to change this if i didn't get into wesleyan and basically they said no... that you can only change your "accomplishments" or something. ARGH! what should i do??? any suggestions? i was very pleased with my short answer section and really don't want to have to change it, but of course i have no idea if i'll actually be accepted to wesleyan.

Wait...Could you explain how your program was "connected" to Wesleyan? If you were part of a program assossciated with Wesleyan or your program's work was related to Wesleyan, then I don't see why it would be bad to have other colleges see that. It just shows a program you did, and you should be proud of it, regardless of its assossciation with Wes or not.

Have you considered sending a paper app to Wesleyan and the online app to your other schools, or vice versa?

I think the OP meant they compared and related their program to Wesleyan... they individualized the answer

yea yea that's what i mean. it blended perfectly so i really hope i can make it work! i tried doing "print preview" but i think common app makes you sign the waiver thing before you print... meaning i think it locks? i may be wrong about this. otherwise... not quite sure what i'll do, damn. i feel like the common app people are kindd of *******s.

haha didn't realize that it censored stuff. oops!

wila, I don't think that I had much of a problem with printing out pages multiple times from the Common App site. You could easily make changes and print them out for each school, though I'd recommend that you don't use paper. Hmmm... try printing out a paper application for Wesleyan and sending the Common App online for Regular Decision! Simply fill all of the appropriate fields in, print it out, and take Wesleyan off of your list. That's what I'd do. Double-check with someone, just to make sure.

I think you're able to edit the application before you send it to each individual college - at least, that's how it worked for me when I applied a few years ago.

madjoy, they changed the Common App this year. Once you submit it to one school, you cannot change it for other schools (you could last year, too).

You might want to print a blank version of the Common App and send it to Wesleyan by snail mail.

Alternatively, could you send it as a supplement to Wesleyan?

This is gonna be a HUGE problem as this year's Common AP "locks" where previous ones didn't. I noticed a spelling error after I sent my ED application, so I printed out (PDF) form and SUPER neatly wrote in those 4 basic common ap pages. Then I'm going to make colored copies and snail mail them out if I send more applications in December. The majority of writing (the essays and short answers) are still printed directly from your computer, and it appears that you can still type directly into the supplements and print them.

They DON'T want you printing the common App with your typed answers, it's either computer generated or hand written. But I think the supplements have no such constaints.

Many schools require that if you snail mail the application, you must do the same for their supplement (together is best). It's not the end of the world just print the PDF and copy it.

Common App has reconsidered. As of October 19, you will be able to edit the application for other schools. Of course, you still won't be able to edit one that you've already submitted to a particular school.

I had the same problem. I applied ED to Haverford and mentioned the school a couple of times in my essay. When I pressed the send button and then realized I couldn't change anything, I freaked out. Luckily, the CoA made a copy of my app which I can change. You could ask for that, too.

do you have to request to have a copy made before you send it or does it automatically save copies that you can change now that they've changed their policies with making changes before sending the app to each school?
