Major Decision

I am a junior at one of the best high schools in NYC.
I plan to major in Biology and want to be a pre-med.

I was orginally going to apply to Princeton early however, sincethey removed that option I want to apply to either stanford or yale early.

I have taken 4 honors classes so far:honors chem, honors physics, honors trig honors english.

Sr year schedule: AP comp, AP Bio, AP Micro, AP Calc AB, Linear Algebra, Internetworking, Bio Projects

SAT 2: bio M -710

SHould I apply to yale or stanford early? I can see myself at both. However, which one do I have a better chance at?

That's a hard question to answer.
What's your #1 choice? Princeton?
If you're indecisive then maybe just applying RD would be the better option...
However, I have heard that Stanford's science department is very strong, while Yale learns more towards humanities.
And with chances... you really can't tell. Both Yale and Stanford are difficult to get into - even EA. Have you visited both campuses yet?

Yale biology is great. Here are some rankings for Yale UG sciences that I thought were helpful.

Yale
(The First Number is the Rank, the 2nd number is the score out of a possible 5 points)
Chemical Engineering 55 4.25
Electrical Engineering 55 4.38
Mechanical Engineering 31 4.48
Applied Mathematics 7 4.70
Biochemistry 5 4.84
Biology 3 4.89
Biophyscs 4 482
Chemistry 14 4.14
Computer Science 7 4.80
GeologylGeoScience 9 4.76
Mathematics 8 4.80
Physics 11 4.79

Where are those from?

I agree with slee, if I'm not mistaken, Stanford is more focused on the sciences than Yale. I may be wrong though! Do some more research I guess? good luck

From the UG Gourman Report posted by collegehelper not to long ago.

If you want to see the thread, search for "Physics Gourman" and it should be the first thread. The post is located at the end of the thread. And yeah from what I've gathered Stanford is more focused on science than Yale.

I think Stanford is nice and could see myself there but I am still afraid I could get used to the west coast. But I am applying early since both schools are SCEA and not ED so i guess it can't hurt. What are my chances for both though?

Chances will probably be the same for both schools...why not visit and apply early to the one you like better?
