Major downward trend... is there no hope for me? Please help--so desperate!

Hey! I definitely think you should retake Lit in January. Anything that could help, you should do it!

I’m not going to copy-paste your list of colleges and say which ones I think are matches, which ones I think are safeties and which ones I think are impossible. I honestly don’t like the CC culture of doing that–this isn’t the “What Are My Chances” forum!

What I will say, though, is good luck and do your best. You should do everything you can to give yourself an advantage. You sound like a really likeable person, so make sure your recommendations are good. You like linguistics and writing, so submit a kick-ass essay. Make sure your passions and personality shine through your application. If you end up doing any interviews, read some tips on handling them and be yourself.

At the end of the day, once you’ve done all that’s possible, have no regrets. This all comes down to luck anyways. Hope you get in your top choices!

Thank you so much, merlion! :)

Did you apply anywhere EA or ED? Or is those whole list apps that are due soon for RD?

Nope, I didn’t apply anywhere early.

I think you’ll get in UVermont, UMass, UConn.

Thanks!

So should I retake the subject tests, at least literature? I’m leaning toward yes, but any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Retake lit, and leave the French where it is. A 730 really isn’t that much different in terms of the number of correct answers from a 780, and adcoms know that. Good luck!

Thank you!!

I’ll be retaking literature next weekend
