hey everyone
As for as I know, tufts does not offer business degree, so I want to major in something that can help me to become a business man in the future.
However, I do not really know which major can really help me to get to that level.
Also, I do not want to major in economic because almost EVERYONE around me who wants to pursue business does that!
I have several combination:
Major in International relationship and minor in math
Major in applied mathematics and minor in finance
Major in applied math and international relationship ( as for as i know, this is almost impossible)
what about economic…(even though I do not really want to do this )
Also, if I major or minor in math, will it help if i take some statistics classes from CS department? (such as probability language etc.)
thank you for all you guys
Instead of majoring in something that you hope will help you the most, you should major in what interests you the most. Loving IR, for example, and trying hard to do your best in it will give you much more than getting a degree in math where you had to force your way through it. If you think you are equally interested in all the combinations you listed, then get some experience at Tufts first before you decide. The path you should take will become clearer with time. Good luck.
Some Math, some Econ, some computers and an international perspective are all key ingredients to building a strong foundation for a career in business. The balance between them should be driven by what interests you most. Develop a few options and a plan to narrow the options as you take a few courses in each area to see what you like best. Tufts has very good advising and they will encourage you to take your distribution requirements freshman and sofmore year as a means of exploring options. Be aware that IR has more requirements than a typical major which can make it a little harder to combine with other majors (other than Econ).
Check out these options as well:
Quantitative Economics major. It is a combination of math and econ. It has the most statistics of any major.
