I am applying to ivy league schools (all of them)
I've taken 10 APs (or will by end of senior year), 5s and 4s in all, others are all honors except for like 3 that are not offered as honors.
SAT is 2330...
SAT 2s all above 780 (4 of them)

my gpa.......
so basically, weighted it's 4.27.
which is all nice and all but....
fresh, soph, senior year are all straight As.
junior year....................failed. major failed. like...2 C+s.
so my unweighted is prob like 3.7-3.8. even though my school doesn't calculate for me.

I just don't know what the heck happened. my brain like backfired on me or something. (not to mention i had THE hardest teachers for bc, ap chem, and phys hnrs D<)
so, i heard junior year grade dropping is fatal.
have I been fatalized? TT_TT

oh yeah, another thing. my intended major is in humanities. my APS in humanities are all As, 5s, etc. and my sucky grades were all in science. I don't even know if this even matters but....yeah. and all my ECs match my major pretty well.

p.s. i know there's like, essays, recs and all. but I'm talking about the academic part of the app here. let's pretend all the subjective stuff is decent. and...my school sends 80 kids a year to ivies + mit and stanford. (this does not help my case at all does it. D:)

Thanks. I think i'm coming off as a whiner but, experienced advice would be great.

In all honesty, 2 Cs junior year will probably knock you out of the running for any of the ivies. I think you may be quoting a top college counselor who recently posted the “fatal” statement on this site.

You also probably understand that at any school sending many to ivies, a large number and usually the majority, are hooked.

It’s really unfortunate a couple of bad grades are fatal, but when a school is taking under 15% and most candidates are qualified, grades are the first thing that helps narrow the field.

The good news is that you would still get into lots of great colleges with your stats coming from a strong HS.

hmom5, you’re completely wrong that it will put him out of the running. College admissions aren’t all about grades. If everything else was an A and he has 2 C+s, then the C+s are outliers in the data. And keep in mind that “class rank” is also viewed as strongly because the colleges can’t compare difficulty of classes between different colleges. He is most likely in the top 10 percent or even a smaller percentile. People with some Bs get into some of the ivies all the time.

Extracurriculars/essays can make a strong impact on the decision factor. Also, his SATs are in the 2300s. He definitely will have a chance at some ivies. It seems to me you’re saying he has no chance and that is completely false.
