Hi guys! I know some colleges (like many/most UCs, which are my goal schools) don't offer an actual health care administration major for undergrads, which is what I want to go into. Should I major in business or bio as an undergrad? Or major in bio and minor in business? I am an incoming high school senior and my school requires me to declare a major soon :(

Can’t you double major?

Your HIGH SCHOOL requires that you declare a major?

Sounds like you could use a mix of both.

“Most healthcare administration jobs require an advanced degree in a field like public health, healthcare administration, or business administration. For clinical department heads, a degree in the appropriate field and work experience may be sufficient for entry. However, a master’s degree in health services administration or a related field may be required to advance.”

I have a degree in bio and worked in hospital admin for about 10 years.

So, my advice - finance and accounting are most necessary. Especially if Obamacare is here to stay. Every decision will be reduced to dollars and cents as very little care will be given.

With a quick search, I found CSU, Long Branch, Chico and Northridge all have programs in HC Admin. I really don’t think you need a bio major or even a minor for that matter though I wouldn’t write it off.
