major in BME or ME?

Is it better to major in ME and then obtain an MS in BME from graduate school or should I straight off major in BME as an undergraduate? I would much prefer majoring in BME, but I have heard that there are not many job opportunities for BME graduates.

so what do you think.

Search the forum.

it is better ME undergrad to BME grad than BME undergrad to BME grad

I would go the Mechanical Engineering route. I worked at a start up biomedical device company, and ME was the most common major. Only one BME major worked there. People do not seem to realize that you can enter the Biomedical field with a degree in ME when choosing to major in BME out of high school. Additionally, ME offers more flexability than does a BME degree when you graduate. For these reasons I am majoring in ME over BME right now. If you can, attempt to get an intern in the biomedical field. The people I work with have all said getting hired has a lot to do with who you know, especially the start up companies.
