MechE Undergrad Degree then BME Graduate Degree

I'm a currently a freshman, and unsure if Biomedical Engineering would be too limiting in the job market compared to Mechanical. I've read that an undergraduate degree in BME especially doesn't hold much weight as it's a relatively new field and most job offers would require a graduate degree.

Would it be best to get a MechE undergraduate degree then eventually specialize more and go for a Masters/Ph.D. in BME with a concentration in, say, Biomechanics? I don't want to be too limited by majoring in BME if it's not really useful at that level and covers too vast of a subject.

Thank you, any responses are welcome.
