Hey everyone! I am a sophomore history education major who has come to the realization that I dont want to teach because of money, demands, kids, etc. I am struggling what to change my major to, I am very good at history and english, and I am a people person who loves to talk to others and i am terrible at math and science(relatively speaking, Im average to the rest of the population). I was thinking law school, lawyer or a government analyst..what would you recomennd me switching into? My goals in life are to be married to a beautiful and kind woman, be a father, make enough to support them, live in a nice house in a nice area, and be able to retire at 65 and live the rest of my life comfortably. Nothing big, I just im 19, I dont really know what I want to do..so I need major suggestions. By the way, I am at a pub university and have a 3.3, so im a decent student but im just in my core classes..nothing to deep yet and i need to declare! please help anyway at all possible!

you forgot about the part with the golden retriever and the white picket fence.

Lawyers do a lot of paper work, and the job market isn’t very good right now. But a lot of them major in philosophy in college.

Of Course!! How could I forget the white picket fence :)! and I was thinking a History major with a business minor, could I go to grad school and get like a decent job in that? I just need a little guidance?

If only others could have such good, solid aspirations instead of trying to be way more important than they are. I think Political Science would be a good major to get into. It deals with U.S. History, policy, and philosophical theory and it actually pays nicely after college–you can get a lot of government jobs like in foreign affairs, the city municipality, the state legislature, or even the FBI. You could also major in English and get into working for a magazine, newspaper, or publishing company. Or since you like people, you could go into Psychology for a counseling and therapy career.
