Hey all ! I'm new to the board and i've got a question for ya. i'm going into my sophomore year at a california JC and i am looking to transfer to a uc, possibly UCD, UCLA, UCSD or UCB. the problem that i have is that, because i had basically sucked at math in high school, i had to start my math classes from the beginning. Granted, i am acing my classes, but being so behind has not allowed me to complete a few of the pre-reqs for my major, which is bio-sciences. i would be willing to wait an extra year to finish the pre reqs, but my parents are moving back east, expecting a baby and whatnot so, it would be very difficult to transfer. i was wondering if i should just apply to the colleges and see how it goes.

How far behind are you?

by then end of this year i will have calc 1, (possibly two depending on whether or not my school will have it during spring), 1 bio, 1 chem and 1physics. i know that i am supposed to have the whole series done, but as i said i am very far behind. however, i am killing myself for these classes and work. right now i have a 3.9 gpa.

how bout the end of Spring semester? If you can complete most of your pre-reqs by Spring, then I think you have a shot.

thats a very tough situation because if your school is on the semester system, and u transfer to a uc that is on the quarter system, u will have problem if you didn't complete entire sequence.

try to do at least one sequence of something.

UCD and UCSD might still take u some say they don't screen for prereqs.

Just do igetc then.

Get you're gen ed done. Obviously your a good student and that should reflect well on your application. If you don't get the pre-reqs done you're gonna have more work than the average transfer once at the university level, but I don't think it will weigh much on whether you get accepted or not.
